Come on man.

That means nothing.

And what were they supposed to do, NOT sign these two?

Dallas is a way better team with these two added.

The only crime here is how long Marinelli was allowed to hang around and how much pull he was given on draft day.

I never said it meant anything. I asked a question. I asked what was the reason for this? Because I do believe there's a reason for everything. McCoy is a good DT. Poe is a good DT. They got ran all over so I asked what happened there. I didn't see enough Panthers games to know.

Gave up 143 rushing yards a game..........

Anyone got to see much of the Panthers play last year?

Now Poe did miss 5 games last year...

DT's aren't the only sole people responsible for defending the run....even though fans on this site believe our s are the reason why they can't defend the run lol.

Maybe if they had both all year the ranking would be better?
Too many other variables to point the entire blame for that stat on 2 people.

Same reason people who dont watch Dallas every week ask themselves how they could have not made the playoffs with all that "talent."

Maybe the coaches stunk. Maybe the message got stale. Maybe the team got lost.

All I know is this....McCoy is a solid addition....and Poe is better than Suh or Harrison.

If we added one of the latter two, worse players, instead of Poe, this thread doesnt exist.

Kuechly retired on top. He didn't retire because he wasn't good anymore.

He tired because of injuries, some might say early. Jaylon has had a career that, to this point, is defined by injuries.

That doesn’t mean anything - he was still a top 3 or 4 LB in terms of production. Barry Sanders, Gronk, FredBeard all retired in their prime (just to name a few)

So, you think retiring in your prime is a good thing for us? I don't......

.....I think Luke saw the culture change with Rivera gone. Means starting over. He said, screw it. Take your money and call it a day.

Games that Poe played, they averaged 50 less yards per game on the ground. Tells you something about the value of Poe
This literally means nothing, especially without number of attempts. Those numbers are dictated far more by opponent quality and game score. The only game that wasn't a blowout was Washington, which wildly skews the average over a 5-game set.

Yes because the Panthers and Cowboys are exactly the same so let's compare. Sop comparing something that isn't relevant to the Cowboys. So ridiculous.

I saw them every week and trust me it was not those 2 fault plus Poe missed 5 games. The DL was doing something different than the usual plus Luke had a bad year. Takes 11 guys coming together on each side to work.

As would I.......I'd also choose dog crap over horse crap but I don't want either crap lol. Not to say McCoy and Poe were crap......I simply don't know. I know McCoy at one point in his career was one of the better DT's in the league. Poe has been solid throughout his career as well.
give me a rotation of McCoy/Poe...Hill/Woods...and Id still draft 2 DTs...that aint bad in the middle....let Hill compete for a spot with whoever we draft.
we're movin in the right direction in fixing the trenches....light years ahead from the previous staff.

I wouldn't put too much stock in the Panthers performance last season. Rivera was desperate and had a bunch of 4-3 personnel switched to a 3-4.

Kyle Allen also did not do this defense any favors by turning the ball over more than Tony Dorsett.

The Panthers defense was just a mess. They switched to a 3-4 without the proper personnel and played McCoy and Poe out of position as 3-4 DEs. I watched quite a few Panthers games and it seemed their opponents would always run away from those two,. If they were in base, they'd run up the middle. The majority of the damage on the ground though was done when they were in nickel and Poe and McCoy would move inside together. The poor outside contain and gap filling of the DEs and LBs got abused in these situations on outside zones where Poe and McCoy were just out of the play by design. Panthers run D had a lot of issues, but putting any majority of blame on these 2 is wrong, IMO. It was a bad scheme with bad personnel.

Edit: They also rotated a lot, and often times had both Poe and McCoy off the field and their run D would get torn to shreds.

:hammer: I live in NC, so we get all of their games. This is 100% correct. Also... They tried rotating Poe and McCoy out at the same time. When they did this, they brought in Vernon Butler and Marquise Haynes. Those two were absolutely awful against the run.
