Cowboys have already signed Clinton Dix who can play FS/SS but likely fits more at FS. I’ve read on Twitter that they were in on SS Vonn Bell before he went to the Bengals. Now reading they’re interested in SS Tony Jefferson and SS Morgan Burnett. If one of those guys are signed does Woods become our 3rd Safety/Special Teams? Trade bait?

Yes.

Xavier Woods is too small for a SS.

God , no doubt he will start crying again like last year.
Not a big fan tbh. Another cult fan hero rather than great player....

I could see it as well. I like X and I think he was 2 dropped picks away from us viewing him a bit differently collectively. Seems like the popular opinion on X here is he’s a solid/serviceable starter, though I think he could really grow into a very good almost pro-bowl level guy with better coaching and making the one or two more plays it always seems he’s on the verge of making.

That being said, Haha is a better FS and Morgan Burnette/Vonn Bell are both better SS. If a better SS is brought in, then the best man plays IMO. X immediately becomes a versatile piece as a 3rd safety/ST ace (the Jeff Heath special) who can make plays in spurts and bring energy and pop to the game.

Fine with either scenario

Grass is greener with HaHa IMO. I think if they draft a safety high Woods would stay in the lineup and Dix would start a few games until the draft pick was ready.

HaHa is fine for us at this point, but there is a reason he is on a low salary and playing for his 4th team.

Morgan Burnett is not a full time starter anymore

Jefferson coming off an ACL tear.

I don’t think Woods is going anywhere.

I'm sure he isn't going anywhere this year but he also likely won't be resigned either. Another comp pick opportunity instead of giving an average player more than their performance dictates.

Im sure he’s expecting to get a nice contract next season... EARN IT.

What about slot corner now that we lost Byron? I believe that was considered his ideal position coming into the league.

That was my thought. He played it pretty well as a rookie. Gives us more competition among the corners.

Woods is ok, but we could use an upgrade too. However, does he fall into the category of better coaching / scheme could make a difference. But how much of a difference.

I was never sold on him from the start, but wanted to see how he developed as well. But if a sure fire guy is there, draft him.

I like Woods as the 3rd S and dimeback. He's can cover the slot and good in zone coverages. Nolan can choose to run a 3 safety nickel at times over 3 CB nickel, anyway, Woods can be a good matchup player.

Not excited by Jefferson or Burnett tho.

Maybe you heard the same radio mention that I did the other day they said that one of the coaches mentioned that they had looked at Woods in that spot. Nothing confirmed. No plans to do it. They simply had discussed it
