I think its hard to judge when the O stunk too. How many times was the D put in bad spots? Plus when you're O can't score teams have no need to air it out on you, they can wear you down all day with the run. With that said, I would have felt better if they were like 15th vs the run last year and not 32nd. lol
And both ranked pretty well individually against the run . Actually some of the highest PFT scores against the run for DTs.

Gave up 143 rushing yards a game..........

Anyone got to see much of the Panthers play last year?

Now Poe did miss 5 games last year...

DT's aren't the only sole people responsible for defending the run....even though fans on this site believe our s are the reason why they can't defend the run lol.

Maybe if they had both all year the ranking would be better?
Yes, I live in Charlotte. There was whispers of uncertainty with the staff and Newton throughout the year all around town. I don’t think anybody on the defense played well and it seemed like everybody gave up, including the fanbase when Allen came back to reality. I wouldn’t judge them off that.

No issues..

I thought you were being critical of picking up Carolina players and making to much about expecting too much because their stats were not great. Yes or no?

Did I miss that?

Again, I said what I said about Cam and Rivera being lamducks because they were leaving?

No baring on your points?

Ok. Accepted. I will read some of the other comments.

I was answering several theads and may have not been clear enough..I will look.

I wasn't being critical about them I didn't even see them play last year lol. Which is why I asked my question.

This "many" talk is a exaggeration. Everyone isn't going to like every move. I don't see how that's any different than what usually happens? The front page is full of people who don't like something.

As would I.......I'd also choose dog crap over horse crap but I don't want either crap lol. Not to say McCoy and Poe were crap......I simply don't know. I know McCoy at one point in his career was one of the better DT's in the league. Poe has been solid throughout his career as well.

McCoy was definitely one of the better interior rushers in NFL in his prime.. although oddly hes' never been a big factor against Cowboys,
-one issue with Gerald has been injuries. He will get dinged a lot, which is why
-at this point another one issue will be age,..and he's always been just a decent run stopper, imo.
- and he's really more suited to the 4-3 one gap scheme than two-gaping in the 3-4.which Carolina mysteriously switched to, and i thought that was a mistake
and their defense suffered for that.

McCoy is a stop gap band aid answer for now, until we get a suitable long term fixture to invest in.
Should we get a chance or Kinlaw or Derrick Brown in the 1st round, i dont think we need to pass that over.
even with the previous coaching staff having a say in drafting Trysten Hill.

- Poe has his pluses and minuses. His weight and shape has to be monitored and stay in checked, and he's been a guy that tends to play according to his
motivations. imo
But when healthy,.. when motivated and focused... and when in top shape, he offers a terrific blend of power, size and athleticism. he can occasionally swim by
surprised pass blockers and he has the ability to bull rush and gain penetration vs run. And he's only age 29.
thus far ATL and Carolina hasnt worked out for Poe. i'm hoping Poe is right himself and support around in personnel, coaching, winning atmosphere can make
a better difference than the previous past 2 teams.

Well...

See what happens around here when you ask expecting an answer?

Sometimes you get answers for questions you never asked.

It's a beautiful thing.

Woods is pretty solid. We finally have started with rotational back up

yes, if Woods was solid enough as a starter, we would have never pursued Poe in FA.
Woods has been decent at best. and just not enough of a factor as a starter.
But with still a year on his contract, he can be used as a rotational type ..until we get a more promising developmental type.

Poe only played in 11 games.

Didnt they also run some variation of a 34 front with McCoy at end also?

Also, "rankings" are based on yards allowed, so the way Carolinas games went were a factor.

By those means, didn't Dallas have the best offense in the league? Sure didnt feel that way @NE or @Phi or @Chi.

They are good at subbing, but if folks are counting on them to play a majority of the snaps they'll be on IR by week 3.. They simply can't play many snaps as they've shown last year in Carolina.

I guess she just didn’t read what I said correctly. We now have a solid rotation. Yes woods is the rotational
