What about slot corner now that we lost Byron? I believe that was considered his ideal position coming into the league.

Anthony Brown was resigned. And if Awuzie and Lewis are the CB’s then Brown will be the slot like he was last year until he got hurt.
Or Brown can play CB and Lewis the slot. This is where they can be flexible and draft accordingly.
May not be ideal but they can be place holders so between this and next year they can draft their replacements.

Woods was a 6th round pick that was given a great opportunity. Last year it was clear the guy was mailing it in. Avoided tackles. Poor technique. Looks like a guy that got complacent. He should absolutely be gone because that type of behavior is inexcusable for a 6th rounder given a great opportunity.

Grass is greener with HaHa IMO. I think if they draft a safety high Woods would stay in the lineup and Dix would start a few games until the draft pick was ready.

HaHa is fine for us at this point, but there is a reason he is on a low salary and playing for his 4th team.

If you buy PFF, he's rated better than any of our safeties the last few years.

People are underestimating him. Safety seems to be a position that churns guys. For example, Tre Boston has also played pretty well the last few years and he was on one year deals for a few years until this offseason.

Cowboys have already signed Clinton Dix who can play FS/SS but likely fits more at FS. I’ve read on Twitter that they were in on SS Vonn Bell before he went to the Bengals. Now reading they’re interested in SS Tony Jefferson and SS Morgan Burnett. If one of those guys are signed does Woods become our 3rd Safety/Special Teams? Trade bait?
Where did you read they were in on Vonn Bell? And interested in Jefferson? Link?

MM want his guys. Plus Xavier Woods really hasn't don't anything to keep him around, with one year to go on a rookie deal. Right now he is a middle of the pack safety in the NFL.

I think the Cowboys are adding bodies so they can create competition and not be locked into certain positions in the draft. Woods can still hold a starting spot, but nothing will be handed to him.
Can we please add a legit QB to push Dak?

Interesting with the likes of Morgan Burnett, who is still recovering from an achilles tear- those types of injuries are very difficult to return to previous form.
but like Ha Ha, he is a former Packer. who has played along side Dix.

Maybe they will sign him on because of the Packer ties, but i don't expect much from a 31 year old safety recovering from that type of injury.
And before the achilles injury he was already having two down years.

Both Xavier and Ha Ha are just so-so average tacklers, imo. so it's a likely chance that's still gonna be an issue among safety position.
One thing for sure is strong safety role and being close to the line of scrimmage is not Xavier's game.
He is much better as a center fielder and space than as a rugged in the box thumper. I still can recall QB Hill of the Saints just bowling him right over.
He has to be the smallest 200 pounder listed safety i have ever seen. And he plays smaller than his listed size.

i'd still like to see what 2nd year Donovan Wilson has to offer, but he was kinda lean and slender for the strong safety role and i wonder if he also is more of a
center fielder than close to line enforcer. Plus he is bereft of NFL game experience and he wont have a chance at really bulking his frame up at the
Cowboys off season program.

i still cannot rule out safety at middle of the draft.
But i am one that believes in Cowboys philosophy of only drafting a safety in 1st round if he is a blue chip prospect, (ala Gerwin James)
and thats' why i'd still like to see us target CB and DL in the first round.

Where did you read they were in on Vonn Bell?
According to.........
@ProFootball411 (Twitter)
“Safety Vonn Bell we are told was down to #Bengals and #Cowboys he wanted to play in the South where he played college ball with #OhioState Buckeyes”

Not sure how legit their info is or who their “sources are”. However, they’ve definitely hit on their predictions of some other signings around the league.

Donovan Wilson I someone I can't wait to see. A full year in the system will do him wonders. He should get plenty of playing time in preseason.

I can't get behind a guy who cried about potential competition
Doesnt mean he is bad player but I struggle with with that attitude
I don't care what he does off the field. I don't judge players what they do off the field only what they show me on the field. Its like Beasley. Beasley was a quitter. He quit football. He came back and killed it. You're being unfair but it is what it is. You have a right to feel the way you feel.

I know the thread title is about Woods.
However, you mentioned Ha Ha Clinton-Dix can play FS/SS.

I'm saying HHCD has never played more than two games at SS.
Somebody prove me wrong.

He's a free safety, and a poor one at that.
