Fans and the front office views of players contracts usually align but the players are on their own. The fo and fans want to get the best players at the lowest cost to field the best team this is good in theory if yall can just get the players to want to play at the lowest salaries then everything would be peachy.

I just look at leverage and whoever has it should use it, if a player has a bad year the the yeam should use it to make the player take a pay cut or get cut. If a player has leverage then he has the right to use it, now that doesnt mean he'll get what he wants but he does have the right to try. Zeke had the leverage my hats off to him and his agent because the cowboys were going to run him into the ground and the discard him if he had waited until his contract was up. He did the right thing for himself and he has to because the front office and the fans are not.
So in other words you’re happy Zeke screwed the Cowboys because Jerry is an idiot?

zeke regressed last year and has not shown any burst or game changing plays against worth opponents. Plus he disappeared in the playoff loss to the rams in 2018. so he is not a great back by any stretch,

So he’s not great but was second overall in APY? Absolute nonsense.

Belichick would have traded him and drafted his replacement, but what the heck does that guy know about building winning teams.
His draft record isn't that great. More like he would have coached up a free agent.

Naw, in America and individual is allowed to get what he's thinks he worth and a company/team is allowed to pay that person what they think that they're worth. It worked for Zeke and it didn't work for Melvin Gordon, your value is what someone is willing to pay you not what someone on a message board (me and you) thinks that you should make.

Do I really need to go through every RB’s contract to prove a point which you just helped me do?

Let’s start with your example. How many Super Bowls did Johnson win being the highest paid running back in history? How many highest paid running backs in history have won Super Bowls?
Who are you cheering for, Zeke or the Cowboys? JJ is a billionaire and I have zero sympathy for him nor do I have sympathy for a punk diva purse carrying bully that is holding back my favorite team from winning a Super Bowl so he can spend an extra 10 million on Louis Vuitton purses.

It’s nice to know there’s people out there that support mouth breathing primates making an extra 10 million, on top of their 50 million, over the Cowboys winning a Super Bowl. In 5 hears you guys can brag about having the league leading rusher while NE or Philthy are dusting off their Lombardi due to a RB no one remembers.

Name the highest paid qb that has won a super bowl.

^This.

Unfortunately, rudimentary economics and CowboysZone do not mix well.

Um ok, so how does that change the fact that Jerry overpaid for a position and player?

Sine you asked the question the burden is on you. You tell me, I’m not looking that up. Once you figure it out you can tell me how that relates to Zeke.

I'm happy Zeke didn't allow himself to be used up and thrown out like the players of old. His contract is as much about the load he took on his shoulders during his first contract as it is what's expected from him going forward. But fans who only deal in polarities aren't going to see that. They just see someone they believe they're superior to making bank and stewing about it. Still a free country ..... for now.

This is a business and a lot of that depends on the future. I don’t care what Zeke has done in the past and he’s being paid millions to play a game voluntarily. People act like football players are heroes for “putting their lives on the line” entertaining us. That’s ridiculous.

You think contracts don't take past performance into account? They freakin' have to. How else do you determine paying for what you hope to get?

And who said anything about heroes? It's an industry like any other that's pay for play. Why do capitalist nation citizens act like money is yucky when it involves millions? Oh. Right. When it's someone else's. At least you stopped short of the full virtue signaling routine by not telling us what careers are "more noble" and thus should be paid more.

Again, I give credit to Zeke’s agent. He’s too dumb to come up with that on his own. I swear on my life, if I played for a team I truly cared about, was already making several million dollars and knew that if I sacrificed a few million then I would have a chance at achieving my dream of winning a SB than I wouldn’t haggle or sit out over that extra 5-10 million, even 20 depending on how much I was already making.

I don’t get it man, if I had a chance just to play in the NFL I would do it for free and then you have guys like Zeke who have taken it to the extreme by holding out with 2 years left on his contract demanding to be paid the highest at his position, which is such an insignificant amount in the grand scheme of things, because of his agent and his own ego.
Zeke & Dak are buddies. I bet he already knew or had a good idea of what Dak would be asking for.

If he waited until this year, they would be competing directly with each other. Not just on the money. It would turn into a who is "the straw that stirs the drink" or true "engine", etc. argument.

I was referring to you implying that Zeke deserved his absurd contract due to what he’s already done. There’s much more that needs to be taken into account when handing out contracts other than numbers, especially when paying the most ever for that position.

People post all the time about how much these players “deserve” for putting their bodies on the line for our entertainment. That’s a joke, spare me the pity party. I couldn’t care less about mow much someone else makes unless it effects the team I love. In case you aren’t aware, there is something called a salary cap, look it up because you seem rather naive about how it works and why some of us care when a running back gets paid as much as Zeke did and how that effects the rest of the team.

I’ll be more than happy to talk to you about “noble” professions. At the top of my list is teachers followed by healthcare workers and truck drivers.
