I remember fans where acting like toddlers and basically saying we lost a junior high team

I remember telling them "no if you actually watched other teams you'd realize that the Jets our a borderline 8-8 team if Darnold starts the whole season" (shocker they finish 7-9 with him missing 3 games)

Someone tried arguing "uhh we'll we should of still killed them" when the cowboys minus 2 tackles + cooper aren't even an 6-10 caliber team......... (2 below average teams playing a close game is hardly a shocker)

It's almost as if half our fanbase was like "personel and coaching doesn't matter, we should of slaughter them because we our the Dallas Cowboys and they our the New York Jets" (cool, our fans are just as delusional as Jerry Jones, that's cute )

I refuse to rationalize losing to the Jets. Those other upsets you cling to? They were good teams who proved it over the course of a 16 game season.
I don't care what they were, upsets happen in every sport . That's a fact, you don't have to rationalize anything.

I doubt I'll ever watch another Wade or Jason coached game again.

There is absolutely no excuse for Dallas to lose that game after coming off a loss to the Saints and Packers. But when you have a QB that has zero TDs passing I can see why they lost. Yes Dak ran for one but that was a game where Dak needed to make the players around him better by throwing to the 3rd and 4th WRs and using Blake Jarwin. Basically that Jets game cost the Cowboys a playoff spot. That was a game they must win even with some injuries.

The team this past year didn't have confidence, it was arrogance.
They would get "humbled" and then go right back into the arrogance phase after one win.

Some of the interviews by the players just felt like it was just bad luck for them, and magically it'll all be fixed and they'll make the postseason.

It truly was one of the biggest let down seasons of the 21st century for this team.

How did the Eagles top QB fare against the Dolphins this year? I'm also wondering if any of the other 53 players on the roster had any role in that game. Perhaps the defense letting Sam Darnold look like the next coming of Tom Brady played a part.
One of those misused phrases "Carry the team."

This fanbase overrates their talent. I'm fine with overrating them when they win 11 or 12 wins. But when you are hovering around 7 to 9 wins......you are a game away from being a 6 win team. Ultimately they are no better than the Jets were. That's what they exhibited.

Injuries played no part in that terrible season. Dallas was very lucky with health tbh

Garrett managed to squander arguably the most favorable opportunity in franchise history. Amazing overall health, a remarkably easy schedule, a pathetic division, a talent-rich roster, and that loser still couldn't coach his team to better than 8-8.

Good riddance!

I’m not sure winning that game gets them into the playoffs, does it? I’m not looking at the standings right now but didn’t the Eagles lose both of their “unique” games, which would have given them a better record against common opponents? The Cowboys went 1-1 in theirs.

And none of that matters. It was the Jets.

Jets finished 7-9, Cowboys 8-8. The Jets went 0-3 with some dude off the street playing QB after their two got hurt, so they were 7-6 otherwise and playing at home.

Contrary to popular mythology, it wasn't a big upset. The Jets were better and the Cowboys were worse than most people here wanted to believe. Some still don't want to believe it.

The game that made us miss the playoffs;) Many will/might say (Saints, Eagles, Vikes, games etc..), but this was the one in my opinion. They played uninspired until it was too late.

I agree...and Garrett's leadership was the nail in the coffin..

Garrett cant coach his way out of a paper bag. And when things get tough, he folds up and goes conservative and predictable.

There were lots of injuries on the offense and this was the game where the defense made Darnold look like Mahomes.

But the game plan to start the game was the most troubling.

I don't recall it clearly enough to say for sure. but this seems like a reasonable take. I'm sure a conservative game plan is what killed them against New Orleans. In that game, with Brees out, it seemed apparent the team believed they would win as long as they didn't make big mistakes, so they went ultra conservative on offense to avoid mistakes. The result is it stagnated the offense. The same may well have been the case against the Jets.
