Not sure Dak critics will ever accept it but he makes pretty clear it was the right decision. To me, it simply BAD LUCK for him but amazing things turn out. He now has a lifetime job, better than football and more money. Maybe he should send Dak a thank you card ....(LOL).

His fans still can't let it go lol.

And I'm not even sure if Romo really feels this way or if its just lip service. Based on reports he had a right to be upset. But like he said......you don't mess with that run. That run looked to be magical. And it wasn't of course. I still think things worked out great for Romo. If he doesn't retire when he did who's to say that opportunity is still there? What if Jay Cutler gets his position? Probably would've been good on any network but where he's at now....everything happens for a reason.

I'm sure he was pissed to some degree. Dude had played for a decade and the team was finally on the upswing again, only for his back to get injured again in preseason. While he made some maddening throws, I knew the guy wanted to win, so I'm sure it stung.
I can't really think of too many players happy they lost their starting gig lol.

He found out when he asked for an open competition for the job and was told no. He was better than Dak, no other reason to not have that competition.

NO he wasn't. Also, the best ability is availability.

Romo asking for an open competition in the middle of a successful run like that, just shows how selfish and inconsiderate of the team he was. Glad that loser is gone.

We have to remember, they strongly considered drafting Wentz. The only reason they didn't, Jerry and Romo were saying had at least 2-3 years left and they knew you can't draft a QB replacement that high and not have your current QB feel pressured. Which led them to drafting/considering QB later. So when Romo got ( again) and Dak lit it up, I can see how/why they got excited.

Yeah if I remember correctly there was a time when Wentz was considered a late 1st rounder or early 2nd round pick. Then out of nowhere his stock just rose to the point it became evident he was gonna be a top 2 pick in the draft. No one ever questioned his skill just I think the school he came from but eventually that didn't matter.

Yeah I'm sorry but I think they were going to take Wentz and got hopped by the Rams and Philly. No one wants to admit Philly undercutting us but I think that happened. I think Wentz under Romo's tutelage was the plan as well as insurance for Romo getting hurt again. Remember they were trying to draft Lynch at the end of the first round. I think Wentz was their first choice though.

Listen I don’t care who you like at QB...I find the debate silly...all of these guys are competitors. Dak wanted to remain the starter. Romo wanted to get his job back because he saw what they were doing and wanted one last run. It’s not a bad thing. No one wants to sit

I find it hard to understand that he was being selfish. He was the starting QB. Typically, you don't lose your job to injury, but as a team, they were winning. No one knows what would have happened if Romo was allowed to compete or even get on the field. To me, they should have opened up competition because it is always healthy. At the end of the day, the 2016 season went down into flames losing to GB. It would have been really interesting to see Romo on the field with Zeke in the backfield......

Dak was hurt....except he played hurt. Something Wentz couldn't do the following week.....
The eagles were smart enough in 2018 to play their backup when the started was hurt. That got them a super bowl. We wern't that smart last year when Dak got hurt, cost us a playoff shot.

Like I always say, if it can happen to Joe Montana it can happen to you...

It was the safe, cowardly decision that modern coaches are forced to make because of their tenuous job security... coaches and football people in general are always going to do whatever it takes to avoid being second-guessed. The one and done despite being the top seed was Garrett and the Jones just rewards for their stupidity.

They were. They also had Nick Foles......we probably still would've lost to the Eagles. Anyone with a brain saw Dak was hurt. But this staff didn't see fit to maybe rely on the running game a bit more. I mean they did a week prior against the Rams....so yeah it made sense for them not to do it two weeks in a row. You know Garrett always wants to be the smartest/dumbest guy in the room.
