His fans still can't let it go lol.

And I'm not even sure if Romo really feels this way or if its just lip service. Based on reports he had a right to be upset. But like he said......you don't mess with that run. That run looked to be magical. And it wasn't of course. I still think things worked out great for Romo. If he doesn't retire when he did who's to say that opportunity is still there? What if Jay Cutler gets his position? Probably would've been good on any network but where he's at now....everything happens for a reason.
I really wanted Romo to succeed, but his health wasn't worth the risk. Glad that he didn't push it. Just like Danny White - relegated to the 'What if' category. Fortunately, Dak was there.

Why would you NOT stay with him? Romo couldn't stay on the field.
I agree. It would've been incredibly stupid to put Romo back out there with his back messed up just for him to get hurt again and then have to go back to Dak and hope to capture that magic again. Its the only decision Garrett made that was smart and took balls. I'd give him that. That's the only one I can remember though.

Dak was hot and what was needed that year. He took it and ran with it. Romo was my boy, but you can’t mess with success. He played the game of his life against GB in the playoff, but as usual JG coached teams start slow.
If only...

I initially did too. I was blinded by Romo especially that 2014 season. When he had to go out here and he couldn't practice all week and had to get shots before every game.....that probably should've been the time to give it up.

You know Garrett likes to spot the opposing team about 20 points and then likes to finally get things in gear. Nothing is ever easy with him.

I’m a Romo fan and keeping Dak in was the right decision. They were winning and Dak was doing well. Only issue I have is that they didn’t allow an open QB competition. But Romos’s health was always in question, especially the last few years. Glad he’s doing well post football.

I hang that more on JJ or JG because we’re still in that position behind Dak. There’s no competition and even anyone capable of winning games behind the starter. Weeden, Cassell, and now Rush? Poor FO management IMO.

I will never understand the need for these threads that become Dak vs Romo. The Cowboys have been given two QBs back to back that are capable of winning every week they step on the field, but instead of appreciating that it has to become a d*ck showing contest that puts these two against each other. I'd rather relive the Chat Hutchinson vs Quincy Carter debates than this garbage.

 I dont know how anyone could think that after watching Wentz beat the Cowboys with WRs off the street. You switch those two QBs for that game and I would bet Wentz wins with Dallas.
Lol. Why don’t you destroy Wentz AC joint? Then see. Oh that’s right. He wouldn’t play.

He's fortunate to have survived the repeated injuries and still play golf, let alone walk.

He really came out on top. I know you can't tell someone like him that. He was the overachiever who got to the big stage and excelled. He doesn't want to hear about how he's doing good post NFL career but he really came out on top. And he's looking like a HOF candidate with some of this post career stuff.

But the team was winning and playing at a high level. You don't mess with that was the point the poster made, but NOs did. That is the direct correlation, but you're always arguing a different point to suit your anti Romo agenda.

The Saints were able to win with Bridgewater, but they didn't look they were playing at a high level on offense. It was evident they were limited a bit with Bridgewater. The situations were similar, but not near the same. It is the differences that matter to the outcome. The differences in Prescott/Bridewater and Romo/Brees determined the results. A more similar case is Tom Brady replacing Drew Bledsoe or even Romo replacing Bledsoe.

I'm a Romo fan. I would have loved to see what he and the team could have done in 2016 had he been healthy, but he wasn't. It happens to every team and player that a point comes when it is time to move on. That time was reached.

We are fortunate as fans to have had Romo and, now, Dak.

Romo was pretty obviously top 5 at different points in his career. Stop pretending like you're not a clueless troll. You don't know what you're talking about.
No. He led the NFL in anything relevant one season and that was when Murray had the best season a Dallas RB ever had. If that was Prescott you'd be making excuses.
