So as much as I want MM to succeed..

he himself is the definition of "a retread".

He even admits as much.

So while I want to believe the arrow is pointing up under him..

I have to see it first.

The general trend is that getting rid of Garrett is a pancrea answer to our problems.

But I wonder.

No..I did not care for Garrett's inconsistency..

but occasionally this team played like world-beaters and made other teams look foolish.

We would all say "finally" and prepare for some success..

Only to fall back into our funk.

So being that McCarthy says he has learned his lesson about having a stale offense which caused him to be fired..

how do we really know?

I want to know what signs you guys will be looking for from McCarthy to confirm he is 'the real deal?'

Simple answers like win 'a Superbowl' do not count.

Tell me more. I am in long analysis mode as I have plenty of time to think. I do not want to follow this team in 2020 if McCarthy is just another coach wanting to just take Jerrah's money and say 'I tried' like Parcells did.

Unacceptable.

I really dont know red.

I hope he is able to change something. But the way the JJs sell our Cowboys product it is not a far stretch to think people come here because of the money and not because of success.

Lets wait and see what happens. But i dont have high hopes.

1. Do we get to the playoffs?
2. Do we win playoff games?
3. When we are the #1 seed, do we get run over by the 7th seed?
4. Do we get to the playoffs consecutive years in a row?
5. Do we coach players into starting caliber talent?

Just a few, to start.

Yes sir.

Brilliant.

So how long do you give McCarthy to meet these goals?

Hmmmm...

Interesting question, Redball -- and it's a pregnant one, no doubt. I'm really hoping that the baby who is born of his services is a strong and healthy one.

Speaking for myself, I'm confident he'll be, at least, a full step up from what we had seen from Jason Garrett. I think Mike McCarthy's in-game decision making will make his acquisition worthwhile, in and of itself.

I also happen to believe he has the temperament to co-exist with Jerry. He seems like a wise and patient man -- even working with a control freak like Mr. Jones. In the end, though, it will be a work in progress and one that promises to be somewhat intriguing. I'm optimistic as of now -- so far so good.

I’m very concerned and intrigued with how MM will do without a HOF QB. I think people underestimate how important that is, if he didn’t have AR or Favre I don’ think he would have been anywhere close to as successful as he was. I’m not a Dak hater but he’s nowhere in the same league as two of the best QB’s to ever play the game.

I can only hope his “analysis” or whatever you want to call it during his year off has changed because I don’t think he can roll out with the same game plan that he did in GB and continue to be as successful.

That is a really good stinker of an observation.

Save this for later this year.

It could prove a whale of a topic.

Just like any coach, does he get the most out of the talent he's provided with. Something Garrett never did.

But no, you can't set goals like "Superbowl" or "NFC Championship" before you know if the team even has enough talent to get there.

I'm one of those not sold on Mccarthy. I'm afraid he needed/wanted this job too badly to ever challenge Jerry.

And frankly, with the talent he had in Green Bay it's a knock on him, imo, that he only won one super bowl. Let's just hope that one wasn't his only ONE, or else we're screwed and have set ourselves back at least another 5 years.
