He doesn’t let the team think for him, he just trusts their judgment more than he trusts the judgement of a malcontent on a random message board.

The same one who advocated for Forbath while you cheerleaders were fine with Maher?

Btw, when a once great team goes through over two decades of futility, any rational fan should become a malcontent. Otherwise their opinion isn't worth reading. They live in a fantasy world. Like South Park, for instance.

Lol, someone here doesn't understand guaranteed money or dead money. But.... nice try on the milk analogy I guess?

This was the story originally referenced in the OP, saying nothing about a guarantee...

I see just now that Archer is reporting a $3.5 mil guarantee.

No reason to doubt Archer's correct, and yes, that does flip that script. I suppose they signed Forbath then as a fallback if they couldn't get a deal done with Zuerlein.

Hmmm I’m thinking for myself. I’m thinking that one kicker was cut by 5 different teams in 7 years, was on the street twice in 2019, and can barely reach the end zone on kickoffs. And one kicker has never been cut before, has been an all pro, and can assure no opponent will ever return a kickoff for a TD or start any possession beyond the 25 yard line... But please quote back to me how important that 86% vs 82% career FG percentage difference between them is.

I agree. Making a higher percentage of your field goal attempts means nothing for a kicker. I don't know why they keep track of that stat actually.

If nothing else, we might can trade Forbath to someone who needs a kicker during the preseason.

I do agree that if $3.5 million is guaranteed then we're fully expecting Zuerlein to handle the job.

$3.5M guaranteed eliminates any notion of a competition. He could have a David Buehler type training camp and he'd still make the team with that kind of investment.

Kai is better

If your looking at within 50 yards and accuracy probably Kia but not as strong a leg....hmmmm kind of interesting.
I think they will complete but was either contract have guaranteed dollars ? that's the question

Your accuracy percentage is understanding posts is a lot worse than either guy.

Forbath has 19 attempts past 50 in seven seasons in the NFL. That's because his coaches know he can't do it, so if he was taking more of those low percentage chances his overall percentage would come down.

If Forbath was only used on extra points, his percentage would look great. But that doesn't make him a better kicker.
Since statistics seems to be a challenge for you.

Forbath has only played in 81 games and has attempted 19 fg’s from 50+.

Stephen Gostokowski has played in 205 games and has attempted 35 fg’s from 50+.

Robbie Gould has played in played in 221 games and has attempted 41 fg’s from 50+.

Those are two other kickers who are also in the top 10 in career accuracy along with Forbath who have less attempts from 50 per game than him. Guess the coaches must know they can’t hit from 50 either.
