I still would take Dez over Cooks..cheaper and can probably play Redzone better than Cooks.
If Dez could still play in the NFL he would be under contract.

No team wants him. There aren't even any rumors of any interest in Dez.

Cooks is light years better than Dez now.

Secondly, we come to his contract. If he is acquired in a trade, Dallas will only be on the hook for his annual salaries. He has 12 million guaranteed for this season (8 million in salary and 4 million in a roster bonus), and salaries of 12 million each of the next two seasons and 12.5 million in 2023. Only this year would be guaranteed, so the Cowboys could either renegotiate that deal for better cap numbers or cut him after this year if he failed to produce. Therefore, the largest gamble is the cost to acquire him.

You're right, that's relatively cheap for a WR in his category. But it would have been easier just to keep Cobb for less. He was a damn good slot WR. My personal opinion, after paying Cooper they wanted to reduce the cap hit at that position by replacing Cobb with a rookie, not a higher paid WR.

I'm not saying that's right or wrong, just my opinion. Because Cooks and Cooper as wideouts sounds pretty good. Especially when you're getting a young WR at that price for the next 4 years.

Don't you think Cooks will want starter money?

It just seems unanaffordable for what we need..no?

I know you disagree with me on Dez.

You an half of Cowboy Nation.

But I would just like to see him do a full workout like they did with Kapernick or at least tried to.

Then we could just know what is going on with him.

I would not want a pig in a poke deal with him not knowing.

It would need to be a real eval on the physical. Then mental part just has to be gauged by the team.

All things being equal, prejudices should not affect things.

I am an equal opportunity fan.

I'm sure he would. I don't want him regardless. If the Cowboys feel they need another WR than draft one and pay him the rookie wage. No way I sign a high price one or trade for one. I'd rather put the money into the defense.

i'd rather keep picks and take advantage of a deep receiver class.
Agree, bad time to be looking for another contract for FA WRs in this league, even guys like Breshard Perriman will probably just re up.
Nice solid depth in this draft, guys like Cooks have to make a discount deal, because most teams know they can get much cheaper payroll with similar talent on rookie deal.
No way I trade for a WR, unless its a package deal, and another solid player is attached,, but I dont see it happening.

I rate Cooks. He's an excellent deep threat but in reality, he wouldn't be worth it with Prescott at QB as he lacks the ability to fully utilise such a receiver.

We just payed Coop 100 mill... no way Cooks is getting traded for... he just got excited when he saw how much Coop knocked down.

Despite his diminutive stature, Cooks is more a perimeter receiver in the mold of DeSean Jackson, not a shifty slot receiver that can clean up on the underneath stuff.

Even if that was his game, his history of concussions isn't really conducive to running the Julian Edelman/Cole Beasley/Danny Amendola route tree.

Yea Dak only completed 65 percent of his deep balls thrown last season......of course Maholmes completed 65% of his deep balls thrown last season with more talented receivers and he is considered the best QB in the game.

Why spend that much when we could have kept Cobb for significantly less? Not gonna happen and as others have stated, too much talent in the draft.

At this point..of course.

I worry a bit about over-reacting somewhat.

While the offense overall is stocked..

all it takes is another mis-hap like Beard and it's in trouble.

I want to see defense improve.

But offensively I want a starting rookie center, a slot WR backup wide out guy with golden hands for possession passes, a TE with flash upfield to run everything from curls to bubble screens..

whew.

And I want that by the end of the next draft.

We cannot find all this and the defensive needs, too.

If Dak is going to be our QB, a huge responsibility is on him to win and support this menu of needs.

You agree or disagree.?

Yeah..

But Mahomes produces bigger plays with his legs than Dak can.

Dak has had it drilled into him to throw downfield and make his progression reads.

He gets sacked alot doing that.

I hope MM let's Dak go back to his QB style of 2016. He was feared as a QB then. Little by little under Garrett..his best skills were blunted.

If Dak can return to the original Dak we had, keep him and pay him.

If not, tag him and begin the search and make Dak compete for his big contract to come.

It's not just about Dak. It's about all 53 guys who want to win and redo their deals and cash in.

That's fine but they all have to get it in gear.

Right now despite the health issues now.

The teams that overcome the here and now will be the teams who should come to the top tomorrow.

Lol Dak was one of the best deep ball passers last year. And thank you for confirming you’re 15 years old by saying you “rate” cooks lol. Great high school lingo “fam”

Dak was the 27th most sacked QB last season. I think fans sometimes do not want to recognize the growth in Dak simply because he was a 4th round pick. Historically Dak after his frist 4 seasons is one of the best QBs ever.
