Fun exercise. Here are mine:

Here's the draft positions:
#17: C.J. Henderson, CB (Florida)
#51: Curtis Weaver, DE (Boise State)
#82: John Hightower, WR (Boise State)
#123: Jake Fromm, QB (Georgia)
#164: Benito Jones, DT (Mississippi)
#179: Juwan Johnson, TE (Oregon)
#231: Michael Onwenu, G (Michigan)
And I’ll add Kekoa Nawahine (S) as an UDFA

I love this draft! Henderson starts right away in place of Byron Jones. McCarthy wants to run the sub defense so he needs stud corners. If Henderson is there, I think this is a lock unless Kinlaw falls.

Weaver is a future star who will be playing opposite DLaw for the next decade. I can’t tell you how much I love this kid.

Hightower is your deep guy with the speed to stretch the defense and he can return kicks.

Benito Jones is a steal that late in the draft.

Here's mine:
#17 - CJ Henderson (CB)
#51 - Zach Baun (LB)
#82 - Troy Pride Jr. (CB)
#123 - Brandon Aiyuk (WR)
#164 - Antonio Gibson (WR/ST)
#179 - Bryce Hall (DB)
#231 - Khalil Davis (DT)

The one pick I had the most internal strife about was pick #82. I really thought about Claypool there on the strength that he plays on ST coverage units, so there is added value there because I don’t think he steps in as a starter.

I went with Pride Jr. because he’s a really solid corner and this team severely lacks in depth.

Murray, Kenneth- LB
Baun, Zack- Edge
Chinn, Jeremy- S
Holmes, Darnay- CB
Jones, Benito- DT
Bass, Tyler- K
Cushenberry, Lloyd- C

Priority UDFA....Jared Pinkney, TE....not sure how this guy doesnt have him ranked at all but ok.

Many of you would have wanted Henderson in the first because we need a "#1 corner," but I'd rather work on the front 7. Doubt the team agrees with me, and Henderson is definitely the pick in this scenario.

I still think we need a lead dog at corner but that’s a really nice haul of players.

That's the rub. Even after the real draft, when you factor in a possible trade up, and/or the surprise OT or RB pick, they will never meet all perceived needs.

Even if they do that on paper, not all picks will be players.

So what happens is theres glaring holes in the lineup.

Other teams would scheme to take advantage and we did nothing about it for years. Hoping the new staff feels differently.

Let's run the Cowboys draft. Using the link below, make selections based on the Cowboys draft position, and rankings of players. Rules are:

Draft from this list: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/tony-pauline-2020-nfl-draft-top-300-big-board/

Must pick players whose ranking is either at or below the number of the selection (i.e. - when the Cowboys pick at #17, you can't pick the #3 guy on the list, but you can select #17 or lower).

Here's the draft positions:
#17
#51
#82
#123
#164
#179
#231

Have at it.

1/17. Jordan Love QB Utah
2/51. Michael Pittman Jr. USC
3/82. Darnay Holmes CB UCLA
4/123. Ke'Shawn Vaughn RB Vandy
5/164. Larrell Murchison DT NC St.
5/179. Robert Hunt G/T Louisiana
7/231. James Smith-Williams DE NC St.

1/17. Tyler Biadasz C Wisconsin
2/51. Isaiah Wilson T Georgia
3/82. Alton Robinson DE Syracuse
4/123. Quintez Cephus WR Wisconsin
5/164. Larrell Murchison DT NC St.
5/179. Bryce Hall CB Virginia
7/231. Kenny Robinson SS West Virginia

Throwing in a trade, just to be different. In reality, I take CJ Henderson at 17 without flinching.

#17 - traded to Patriots for #23, #87, and 2021 2nd round pick. Patriots take Jordan Love QB Utah State
#23 (from New England) - Grant Delpit, S, LSU
#51 - Zack Baun, Edge, Wisconsin
#82 - Chase Claypool, WR, Notre Dame
#87 (from New England) - Jeff Gladney, CB, TCU
#123 - Leki Fotu, DT, Utah
#164 - Thaddeus Moss, TE, LSU
#179 - Bryce Hall, CB, Virginia
#231 - Kenny Robinson, S, West Virginia (XFL)

You guys can stop, I have clearly won.

#17: Henderson - If Ruggs was one more spot down, I would have pounced on him, but I am happy getting the #2 CB in the draft.
#51: Weaver - Really struggled with three or four guys here.
#82: KJ Hill: Really struggled with three receivers at this spot: Hill, Jefferson, and Hightower. I think Jefferson and Hightower have a little higher of a ceiling, but next to Cooper, Gallup, and Jarwin, Hill fits perfectly. He gets us 500 yds + in 2020.
#123 Ashtyn Davis - I was very surprised to see him this low. Happy to grab him. Potential 2021 starter.
#164: Braden Mann - P - Our special teams are going from worst to first in one short year!
#179: Khalil Davis - One of my pet cats. Don't fully understand why he is so low.
#231 Lloyd Cushenberry - No way this guy falls to the seventh unless he is caught with a roomful of hookers and blow during the Quarantine. This dude has the talent to start game 1.

I like those picks but I fully expect Gladney to go in round two. He is a great cover corner. I'd be happy with him at 51 tbh if we go kinlaw or chiasson in round 1

What the heck...(Note - Not a fan of Rush and feel this team desperately needs to find a possible Dak replacement...just in case)

17 - KJ Hamler WR
51- Patrick Queen ILB
82 - Taner Muse S
123 - Jake Fromm QB
164 - Thaddeus Moss TE
179 - Raequan Williams DT
231 - Trey Adams T

Post-draft plan - Make a trade for a CB. Won't be a hit around here but I can see a star on Patrick Patterson's helmet.

Not crazy about this big board. Some very surprising players dropped into the 200s.

#17 CJ Henderson CB
#51 Patrick Queen LB
#82 Justin Madubuike DT
#123 Antonio Gandy-Golden WR
#164 K'Von Wallace S
#179 Davon Hamilton DT
#231 Lloyd Cushenberry C

If I knew Hamilton would make it to 179, I would take Chase Claypool at 82 and Brandon Jones at 123. What is Cushenberry doing all the way down at the bottom of this board?

I was shocked to see him still available there.

Same deal with Bryce Hall at 179.

I love this
I really think that if Kinlaw is not there at 17 we should trade down because there are so many value players in Rds 2-3

Henderson
Weaver
Madubuike
Aiyuk

I'd be ecstatic with this draft, but think it's incredibly unrealistic. I think Weaver will be gone in the top 40 and Aiyuk will be gone in the top 50.

-- A 6'6" DT who ran a 4.65 40 in his senior college year.
-- A DT who could bench-press 440 pounds and squat more than 600.
-- He was his state's heavyweight wrestling champion in high school and was also an all-state punter.
-- He had 24 QB sacks his senior year and won the Outland Award as the nation's best defensive lineman.

You just dropped the ball on the 1-yard line and celebrated the TD while I picked it up and took it to the house.
