With Mcgovern moving to C most likely does it create a need at G? I guess Knight and Looney can both fill in in a pinch but I can't see either being long term solutions. Then there is Redmond but I have no idea what he can do.

At T Knight and Hyatt appear to be the depth and I guess in an extreme situation Williams could fill in with Looney at G.

Which do you think we need? G, T, both, neither?

I'd love to see us trade Conner Williams in exchange for Xavier Su'a-Filo. Let XSF start at center, McGovern start at LG, then draft a swing tackle late.

Guard is more important. If we are going to run a WCO then we should expect some quicker passes and the edge rushers should be neutralized to a degree as opposed to pressure in your face.

Need? They need as much talent as they can procure. Fortunately, there is talent available (in this draft) at both positions.

I like challenging threads..

Hmmmm..

I think we do not start a Chinese Firedrill on the OL.

I think we let everybody stay where they are, refine their skills..

and draft the best C money or draft picks can buy.

There are several in the draft that would look very studly next to our other OL guys.

The backups can be readied as you know Smith will be down, our Gs never play complete seasons and need help, too. Martin has bad knees, etc.

Get a warrior for a center..a mean nasty smash mouth dude.

We can all sleep better this Fall.

Let's invest another top pick on offline.
With all these Lombardi trophies we have won the last years with these philosophies we're running out of room for them.

Why in the world would you love to trade a useful player for someone they just allowed to leave in Free Agency? That makes zero sense.
He is a hard to move guy. You need a big body like that at center to go up against NT's in the 3-4. That's why Gurode got the job over Costa even though Costa was better.

That's what I was thinking. I glanced at his positions on Football Reference, and they didn't list Center in any season. I suppose it's possible he could have been a backup at center and played a few snaps, but that isn't a reason to project him as the Cowboys starting center.

None. But he's a vet whose been right next to the center hearing the calls making the reads right along with the center. So it wouldn't be a hard transfer IMO.
I don't think it's as easy as you think. Centers have different responsibilities, they have to focus on snapping the ball before anything else, they start from a different body position with a different base … Besides, the Cowboys already have a backup center that has logged significant time at the position (Looney), and a young player that played a full season in college at center (McGovern), so why experiment with someone making a position switch?

And we should trade our 2nd rounder from 2 years ago just to get him back on the roster after we released him?

It is just an idea. Because I really don't trust Looney, yet and I'd hate to C.Williams as our starting LG guard again.
