I don’t see any downside to bringing him in and letting him show what he has left. It would have to be in a deal that allowed him to easily be cut. He has stayed out of trouble and I’d be willing to see if he has matured and if his time away has made him appreciate what he could have been. It would be a one chance situation. You screw up once and you’re out. Don’t be late, don’t show up in the news, and no attitude. The first instance of either and you’re out. End of discussion.

the problem with Dez is that his biggest strength is also his biggest weakness: passion. It’s a fine line between firing up teammates and going so far that it becomes a distraction. Dez became a distraction and I don’t think any coach wants to sign up for those problems. Plus, the limited role he would play now can be done by others. He’s not a #1 receiver anymore.

Dez's last good year was 2014. Then 3 successive years of injuries that robbed him of his ability. Then 2 years of no football. Add to that his continual distractions. Let the raiders hire him.

He's been out of football for 2 years. In those 2 years, only ONE team had any interest in him and then he tore his achilles, which usually ends or significantly alters a player's career. Dez is done and he's never going to play in the NFL again. Can he still play? Im sure he can, but teams know you can get that kind of production from a younger, cheaper player who will have more upside than a 31 or 32 year old WR with injury concerns even BEFORE he tore his achilles.

Just fondly remember the old Dez, and move on.

That’s just assuming he is still the same. People mature in their late 20’s and his time away from the game may have caused him to reflect on what could have been. He hasn’t been in the news for negative behaviors in a very long time and he likely would come cheap. Your concerns are valid but I addressed them. He would be on a one strike and your out deal explained to him upfront with no possibility of misunderstanding. He is to come in and do nothing but play football and help the team score points in whatever role given to him by the coaches. The first instance of anything and you’re out. End of discussion. Take it or leave it. I don’t think anyone would take him back under any other circumstances especially one in which he is dictating anything and acting like a diva again.

Dez is looking good. Better than his last few years with the Cowboys.

Sign him to the 90 man roster and see what he's still got? What say you?

There are 31 other NFL teams whose locker rooms who weren't flamed as Dez walked out the door. None of them have bothered to sign him, either.

No. No looking. No kicking the tires. No training camp invitation. No trying him out as a punt returner.

No. Negative. Notta.

No disrespect intended but I think some posters either have a bad memory or need to step away from mind altering substances for a bit and get clarity.

It must be a conspiracy against Dez by the other 31 teams. lol.

Aren't you one who is totally against Dak and wants him replaced?

Sounds like you should heed your own words.

Can he do this?

Maybe? Dez has looked better in his videos of late than he did his last few years with the Cowboys.

Now, is Dez better than Amari? Of course not, but Dez could still be better than all of our backup WRs. There is no harm to bring him in and test him.

By the way, on the video you posted, did you see how all three passes but one were right on Amari's chest? The anti-Dakers won't like that. lol

I'm not sure we can tell much from videos of him in shorts, The keys are whether he has lost some speed (never was particularly fast to begin with), and a determination about his attitude about being no better than the #3 banana.

Dez is upping the anti!! Improved Video production for Professional teams.

I think he'd be signed if said team were 98% sure Dez would use his off-field intensity at the right time.

I so wish there was a roster spot for Dez but is he willing to play special teams? KR...Gunner, PR.... protector idk?

Channeling his intensity on special teams and having success would be perfect

Yep Dez had tantrums on the sideline , so did I in my living room watching those games . Common denominator we both love the Cowboys and hate how they were being coached . That problem has been fixed

Dez has NO CAREER TO PROTECT and will play 110% unlike the rest of the prima donnas on this team . he will make them all work harder in camp guaranteed. Hope he gets the shot .

A guy with nothing to lose is a dangerous weapon we could use on this team in big moments when our high paid stars are tapping out and have no urgency to be in the game . Dez may have diminished skills but he has the passion and courage to take the last shot .

I don't think it's a given Dez will work harder and make them all work harder. He might, but focus and hard work were never traits Dez displayed as a player. His emotional intensity was nice, and I don't fault him for that, but he also was known for being divisive in the meeting rooms, showing up late for meetings and practices, and the Cowboys covering up a lot of his other transgressions. At one time, he required a paid baby-sitter from the Cowboys.

Now, Dez may have grown up and show up and work hard. His circumstances surely point that way, but the world is full of people down to their last chance who still do not change their stripes.

The Cowboys know Dez better than anyone. My guess it wasn't just Witten and Garrett who he wore out his welcome with. I would love the talented Dez to be given a chance, but if he's lost 1/3 of that talent, I am not sure Dez is worth the headaches he could bring. Yes, there's a chance he won't bring them, but is he worth bringing the old Dez minus his talent into the locker room? I don't think so. Unfortunately for Dez, he made a bed he has to lie in.

Except he's been working out like a pro.

Maybe spend some time watching his videos on twitter.

Dude can play.

People gotta understand the drive. He came from nothing to be one of the best.

Which Dez? 2014 Dez or 2020 Dez?

Of course 2020 Dez.
