Seems to me anything is play for the draft. We picked up two vet dt and safety. Maybe they draft wideout then cb or safety then dt. Or hell you can wait until round 2-3 for a great receiver as well. We have options now

Agree, better now than 3 weeks ago that is for sure.

If CeeDee Lamb or Henry Ruggs III are there at 17, it’s going to be hard for the Cowboys to pass on either of those guys even though there are bigger needs on defense.

Why would Dallas bother drafting a WR that high when they already have Cooper and Gallup?

Unless you NEED a #1 WR type, this is not the draft to be taking one high. plenty of good talent in the pool.

I disagree about Ruggs. Outside of Cobb, the Packers had receivers with size, Nelson was their #1 WR for year's.

I'm all for coming away from this draft with a WR, but 40 times especially at that position may be one of the most overrated measures of a players ability in sports.

Mahomes 11th at 65.9%, Dak 13th at 65.1% for 2019
Mahomes 3 years at 65.9%, Dak 4 years at 65.8%

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2019/passing.htm#passing::pass_cmp_perc

Just thought I would point that out about the accuracy part. (waiting for the ...but Mahomes won a SB crowd to chime in...) (yes, he did but he had a better coach also :muttley:)
:D

And we do have some speed on the roster, so the thing is, we can get the same type of player, and not know what you have on day 3. So do they use a high draft pick on a WR that has speed which would have to be a slot guy. That to me fellas in the luxury category when they need defense more. Unless he truly is the BPA at the time far above any other player.

Johnson has that speed, and they know what they have, however I am not sure he is a slot guy, and had a lot of drops.
Smith, can be that guy if this new and better staff can see that.
Draft choice, as I said only if a sure fire guy is there that stands out over any other players. If close, I would stay with defense IMO.

But we do need that guy that can return punts and kicks, though Pollard was returning kicks. A speedy CB can return punts though too.

Yes Devin Smith is already on the roster and has shown he can produce in limited time. The reason he was sat is 1000% typical Garrett. When things get real he gravitates back to his "safe" scheme of predictable football. That was all on him.

What are you disagreeing with? What do the Packers receivers have to do with Henry Ruggs?

One name I am interested in at WR is Andy Isabella. He didn't get on the field much for the Cards last year, is absolutely BURIED on their depth chart now with their acquisition of Nuk, but I saw a lot of good things out of him in college. Toss a 4th at Zona and see if they bite.

Jerry rice was not a speedster. What is needed are great route runners and a coaching staff that can design game plans that play to their receivers strengths.
Ding ding ding!!!!!!

If the Cowboys don't feel a player like Devin Smith, Jon'Vea Johnson, Cedrick Wilson or Noah Brown can replace Cobb then look at available FA WR's or get one in the draft. There will be good ones well into the 3rd round. No need to burn the 17th pick on one.

who, Ruggs and Lamb? I am well aware that they are great, along with Jeudy. But Dallas doesn't need that type of WR, especially at the 17th pick when they have MASSIVE needs on defense. If you are going to draft a WR, do it with your 3rd rounder. Deep talent pool at WR this year, much like last year, and quality names will be around.

You take the best athlete, period! Especially if he is a game changer.
Having said thus, I don't think wide receiver is off the table for pick 17.
If we sign Dak to a record contract, the Joneses are saying they're all-in on Dak. And that means we'll look to strengthen the offense.
Second, can you imagine teams having to defend Jeudy/Ruggs/Lamb AND Zeke, Gallup, Cooper AND Jarwin AND Dak, if he learns how to use his legs better? :omg:
I think Ruggs would be the better immediate fit. And, no, he's not like Austin or Ginn. Ruggs is tougher and has tremendous hands. Jeudy is the better route runner and Lamb is more physical. Ruggs would likely be able to contribute the fastest - pardon the pun.

I know we need defense, but I just don't see a defensive player outside, maybe, Derrick Brown, Isaiah Simmons and Chase Young (and they'll highly likely be gone by pick 17) having an immediate impact like Ruggs and, maybe, Jeudy and Lamb, would.

That's my three cents.

Dak is an Accurate QB , you don’t throw for 5,000 yards and 30 TDs without accuracy.
