Playoff wins and constant rebuilding, need to draft like we're rebuilding every year...add talent to DL and OL. An NFC Championship appearance will depend on how good this defense can get,
we need a few more pieces at right end and CB. We can't count on Gregory, just take him as a free rotational player

I expect them to be competitive for the division title to start with, just as they have been for the most part. It was clear the team was good, for the most part, but the coaching staff was not. So now with a much better coaching staff, or appears to be at this moment in time, and an updated defensive scheme. Hopefully less predictable offense, improved ST's. That will be enough to win the division and go further in the playoffs.

Of course we all want to get to the SB. Well most do. Eventually a SB, as fans we should all expect that. Heck, even Browns fans, Dolphin fans should expect that for their teams in the next 2 to 4 years. That is why most of us are fans.

I truly believe there are "fans" that hope for failure to only whine and complain about the teams and Jerry. Anyway, I do not expect a SB appearance this season, as of now. I want to see how it all unfolds in actual games. Then go from there. But I do expect the playoffs.

I understand the 8-8 type thinking, as Garrett has that ingrained in our brains the last 10 years. However as soon as I learned 100% that Garrett was out, I started to exorcize the demonic 8-8 thinking out of my head. :muttley:
My big hesitation is that I don't know what the new coaches will actually accomplish. They are just names to me right now. I've read up on a few, but I'm not ready to buy in completely just yet.

I do feel stoked about where we're headed, though.

What can we expect from this Cowboys team the next 3 years?

With a new head coach and players moving every year who knows what to expect from the Cowboys the next 3 years. I take it one year at a time with the Cowboys. Under Garrett we were never able to build on a good season. It was up one year and down the next. We’ll just have to see how it goes with McCarthy.

The positives : McCarthy is coach . We have top receiver and RB talent and top 10 OL despite loss of Fredrick . Good additions on defense like McCoy and a good kicker .

The Negatives ; Dak Prescott is QB . His inaccuracy will continue to impede the team once opponents stack the box to stop the run and dare Dak to beat them . He cannot . CB and Safety is suspect . Not enough sacks from Dlaw is a concern .

Expected records Next 3 years :

2020 ; . Dak inability to make a difference becomes apparent to MM. 9-7 playoff appearance but lose away

2021 : 7-9. No playoff as OL gets older , zeke is slower , Dak is stagnant . and Jerry realizes a rebuild needs to happen .

2022: . cowboys try a new QB and start new defensive players this sparks the team and the offense starts to gel with a new QB . 10-6 : One playoff win.

We've been conditioned to expect nothing.

Although, looking back, how could we have expected to consistently beat teams when theres an NFL staff specifically trying to game plan against your weaknesses while your own staff does nothing at all of the same, or nothing to counter it?

This team isnt much better on paper, and the window seems to be closing. The entire difference will need to be coaching and its possible that can happen.

Big difference between expecting and hoping.

That's all we have left. The hope that Jerry sells while he plays with his toy.

I would say more of the same... an average of 8 wins with a couple of games up or down based on schedule, close game luck and injuries. IOW, like the majority of the teams in the modern NFL.

McCarthy is the biggest hope for 2020 , a coach who can study the opposition and plan for a game. He has the respect of the FO and players due to his super bowl win and record. i am hoping the QB play and holes in the defensive line/linebacker hampers his plans.

To put it bluntly, absolutely nothing.

The only thing I'm clinging to is that, so far since we've hired MM things appear or feel to be run differently than before.

I've been in favor of almost every move we've made so far, which hasn't happened with the Cowboys in almost my entire lifetime

There is no question this team is built around the QB/RB/WR who are 27/25/25 coming into this year. They should all be into their primes for the next 3 years — what can we expect?

I’m so scarred by Jason Garrett’s consistent inexcusable mistakes that caused this team could never get out of its own way. Basic decisions such as time management, critical situation calls, and special teams have plagued our seasons.

I believe our range of results is wide depending on McCarthy, health, and roster additions from the draft. I’m an optimist at heart, but it’s hard to get away from thinking more 8-8 or 9-7, fringe playoff seasons, maybe one special 12-4/13-3 season with a disappointing playoff loss.

If we are a Super Bowl contender, it will be because of McCarthy’s superiority over Garrett.
I expect 3 superbowls. Idk if it happens but that's what I expect
