Look up September 5th 1983 Commanders vs Cowboys Monday Night Football
Oh, I realized what you were talking about, just saying that it wasn’t a 30 point comeback. 30 points would be like the 2nd greatest comeback in NFL history. I would have remembered that.

In my opinion the 1983 season opener on Monday night against Washington was more of a classic. The Cowboys got behind 23-3 in the first half against a good Commander team and came back to win 31-30. A rookie Darrell Green put his name on the map that night by chasing down Tony Dorsett from behind. That was a great game!

I'm actually applauding them for their creativity. People love football and a good game no matter how old it is will get viewers. So quit taking my statements as being negative. Some fans, I swear.

If you meant that as a positive and not a knock on them making ad money then my apologies.

While I won't pretend to remember every Cowboys game I've watched over my lifetime of being a fan, I can definitely say this one has always stuck out in my memories. What a roller coaster ride of a game this one was to watch.

Me too. This one simply wasn't something you could forget. At one point in that game I thought the Cowboys were going to get blown out. The Bills had a nice lead and were driving.

The other game was back in the 90s where the Cowboys had a 34-0 lead on the Giants in the 3rd quarter and almost blew it. With around 6 or 7 minutes left the Giants got the ball back down 34-28. But that's not what we're talking about right now.

What I remember most vividly about this game was Jaws all but waving pom poms for the Bills. Maybe it’s because I live near Philly and fans always talk about how biased Aikman is.

I didn't see any of that, but it doesn't surprise me a bit. Buffalo is harsh.

Saw the biggest security guard. Must have been 6”10 - just destroy a guy and rag doll him up the stairs.

The other thing I remember about that night was it was really warm in Buffalo. I was wearing shorts in Oct in Buffalo.

Yup. I was home on leave and watching it in my brother's bedroom. I had already been losing my mind with all of the picks and then when we scored/recovered the onside I think my brain exploded.

Romo threw 5 interceptions that game and deserved to be benched the following week. The Cowboys stole that game from the Bills.

ESPN is gearing up to show a multitude of classic Monday Night Football games in the coming weeks. The network will air five games over the next five Mondays at 8 p.m. ET each week, giving football fans a way to pass the time while stuck self-isolating due to the coronavirus.

No. 2: Cowboys vs. Bills | Oct. 8, 2007
Final Score: Dallas 25, Buffalo 24

Location: Ralph Wilson Stadium | Buffalo, New York

ESPN Air Date: April 27

By all accounts, the Dallas Cowboys should have lost this Monday Night Football contest in 2007.

The Buffalo Bills had built up an impressive 24-13 lead over the Cowboys after three quarters at Ralph Wilson Stadium, and capitalized on five interceptions from Dallas quarterback Tony Romo — who opened the night by throwing a pick-6 on his very first pass attempt of the game.

Yet it was the final few minutes of the game that turned it into a Monday Night Football classic.

Dallas mounted a massive 12-play, 85-yard drive and capped it with a 4-yard touchdown pass to Patrick Crayton to bring them within two points with just 20 seconds left on the clock. Romo attempted to find Terrell Owens for a two-point conversion, however the Bills swatted the ball away to maintain the lead.

The Cowboys then recovered an incredible onside kick to get the ball back, setting up a 53-yard field goal from Nick Folk to seal the 25-24 win.

When I read the title of this thread the first Cowboys MNF game I thought of was up against the vikings and the game went into overtime and the Cowboys got the opening kickoff and drove to the vikings 36 yard line and on a 3rd and 1 the Cowboys lined up in what looked like they were just going to try to punch it up the middle and the vikings were all bunched up looking like they thought the same thing with most all defenders between the tackles and Romo took the snap and turned and handed it to Emmitt but instead of just going forward ran off the outside of the left tackle and went untouched for a TD to win the game.

The QB that holds the record for the most all time picks once had a 6 pick game and never got benched, Brett Favre.

QBs routinely get benched for less.

A lot of them do, but if that type of game is so not normal coaches are going to write it off as a bad game and start him the next week. Now if a QB is throwing 2 or 3 picks every game or very other game ya a 5 or 6 pick game will get you benched. When Favre retired he was also the all time leader in TD's too. Now it's Peyton Manning.

Romo got away with murder during his career. He was too loved by fans to be benched but don't think for a second that he didn't get his butt chewed out for that crap.

Was it a 1983 Monday night game when Dallas trailed Washington something like 23-3 at the half before winning 31-30?
That's the one I would have chosen! I remember my mom forcing me to go to bed at halftime - after all, they were getting crushed. I had no argument for being allowed to stay up.

But I couldn't sleep, burgeoning lunatic fan that I was - so a couple hours later, I come downstairs. My mom is still awake and tells me, "don't worry, they won." I can't remember ever going back to sleep happier as a fan, outside Super Bowl wins. It was only the advent of YouTube that allowed me to see the second half of that game!
