Not sure Dak critics will ever accept it but he makes pretty clear it was the right decision. To me, it simply BAD LUCK for him but amazing things turn out. He now has a lifetime job, better than football and more money. Maybe he should send Dak a thank you card ....(LOL).

I believe that once, someone asked Tony about the cowboys drafting a QB and he said that he was not worried about that because there was no QB coming out of collage that could take his spot. Maybe I dreamed it, I am not sure.

It’s not hard to take someone’s job when you can’t stay on the field and your competitor wins 11 straight

LMAO I can't believe this thread is 22 pages long. I've posted enough about people clinging onto Romo and I won't bother to do it again, but it's pathetic. This Dak vs. Romo thing needs to end but it never will unless Dak wins a Super Bowl. I loved Romo and he was my favorite player, but some guys need to move on. Every time a thread is posted about Romo on this site, it's a guarantee to be about 10+ pages long because posters can't resist either hating on Romo/praising Dak or vice versa.

Wow dude...you act like you are the final authority of everything.
You didn't even bother to read all the comments here. Are you going to deny that Romo always came in too soon...not fully healed? You KNOW that is not true. Any QB that played with shoulder injury .....is proof you would be WRONG.

Dak did allow Tony to FINALLY fully heal during a season. His last drive....you'll claim defense wasn't playing, anyone could do that. But that was laser efficiency. NO WAY...just any QB could bop in and drive the team down for an easy TD. No ....way.

Everyone wonder why we drafted Zeke. He was the final piece of the romo puzzle. Elite tough RB pass catch AND block. The team was SO stacked you could put a low round drfat pick rookie in and win.

What could we have done with a healthy veteran...built FOR the healthy veteran?

Look...you HAD me at your first sentence. What ARE we doing here four years later. You should have quit there. Then you go on to show us EXACTLY why. People making up bull sheet in their heads is why.

Can you please stop! Cam Newton did far more for the Panthers than Romo ever did for the Cowboys and Cam Newton was cut like he was nothing. The fact you and people like you are STILL crying about Romo 4 damn years later, when his successor has produced as much as Dak is just pathetic.

He did have a hurt shoulder and I’m sure he would have sat if he had any faith in his coach or backup to go out and win. But considering Garett only won 1 game with quarterbacks not named romo and Dak. I can’t blame him for not leaving the season in anyone else’s hands. P.s the whole team played like garbage that game.
I know. Am not giving him credit for losing and playing like crap like the rest of these bums. Nope this is the Dallas Cowboys. You step up and you get praised. You don't get patted on the back because you tried. Sorry that's not what made most of us fans of this team.

i can't believe we still have 21 page arguments about this 4 years later.

Romo was at a place where the last two big shots that he took put him out of the game for extended periods of time. His back was crumbling. It was simply time, and that's all. No, Dak wasn't a better QB, Dak didn't beat him out, there was no great conspiracy against Romo, any of that garbage. It was simply time for Romo to retire.
Romo was interviewed and mentioned how he has to have treatments every day to go about his life. One could argue that he retired too late.

Romo knew he couldnt beat anybody with a subpar te core playing every passing snap.

I will go to my grave believing that the Cowboys had assembled a Super Bowl caliber team in 2016. As I have stated repeatedly, the only way for the Cowboys screw that deal up was to NOT find out if Romo could pilot that loaded *** team to the Super Bowl. They had two games at the end of the season after they had pretty much wrapped up HFA when they could have inserted Romo and let him show what he had left. If he balls out, you start him in the playoffs. If he sucks, you re-insert Dak and never look back. If he gets hurt, the decision is made for you. I believe Romo was the better QB at that time and would have given the Cowboys their best shot at advancing far in the playoffs. His experience would have made a huge difference. At least that is my belief. I am not in any way saying that Dak LOST that playoff game for us. Our sorry *** defense did that.. But Romo was better equipped mentally at that point to cover for the defense in a game like that than Dak was. Dak let it get to 21-3? before he got it figured out. I don't think it would have taken Romo that long.. Maybe I'm wrong.. we'll never know.. which is exactly my point..

Dak let it get to 21-3?
You mean Witten whiffing on a block to set up bad down and distance on the 1st possession, Butler with a stupid penalty causing bad down and distance on the 2nd possession, and TWill letting a ball bounce off his chest when he was wide open on the 3rd possession along with the defense getting bent over 3 straight possessions?

Did Romo ever show the ability to overcome his teammates bad play in big games? If so, why couldn't he do it when he was actually in the game but all of a sudden able to do it in hypothetical situations that can't be proven one way or the other?

His fans still can't let it go lol.

And I'm not even sure if Romo really feels this way or if its just lip service. Based on reports he had a right to be upset. But like he said......you don't mess with that run. That run looked to be magical. And it wasn't of course. I still think things worked out great for Romo. If he doesn't retire when he did who's to say that opportunity is still there? What if Jay Cutler gets his position? Probably would've been good on any network but where he's at now....everything happens for a reason.

we'll probably never know for sure but I tend to agree with you
IMO Romo is taking the high road, even 4 years later, and I commend him for that. Most people wouldn't do that. Candidly, I probably wouldn't...

No sense even talking about this now, TBH. Seems like a lifetime ago and sooner or later everyone just needs to move on.
