I think the scheme is going to switch to a hybrid 2-gap / 1-gap scheme and he’s gonna struggle with two gap elements but he might actually benefit this year coming in as a rotational pass rusher because we don’t have anyone else like him.

No they are not done with him. Sometimes it takes 2 and most the time 3 years for most players to show show progress.
So he get in some rotation and learns behind two vet players that had success. He had no one to teach him for players ahead of him, nor the lame coaching staff.

we will see come TC on any progress.

Good thing that when this fan is cooking up what was shopped for...he goes directly to the bacon.

if he was o line maybe but that doesnt mean anything for dl. if he deserves it he will play and get plenty of snaps no matter how many dt the cowboys sign or draft.

Yeah I wouldn't read to much into that. McCoy is 32. Probably has a good year or two left in him.

No kidding. Hill was a disappointment last year. It’s not off to a promising start and while there is time to turn it around, I think most are expecting otherwise.

But McCoy isn’t some 27 year old free agent we signed.

He is an upgrade right now and probably buys us a year or two of seeing if Hill develops in the meantime.

No. It just means he won't play much. Probably be inactive 90% of the year while they continue to groom him. They'll do this again next year right before releasing him.

Its one thing to how Marinelli saw him and worked with him, .. it will be another to see how the new current defensive staff will choose how to handle Hill.

A lot of this is still on McClay's crew that Hill was even a player to consider with the 2nd round. Time will tell if that's starter's grade or will he end up as a mere rotation
guy. So we'll just see how much this new staff thinks of him to work him in the depth chart and rotation and see how he develops, works and matures.

McCoy is age 32, so we have to know an heir apparent has to be in the making very soon. But iw ll say that despite Hill already been drafted as a 2nd rounder
just a year ago, should not make us bypass a highly rated, regarded DT that's within our selection range. We cannot afford to take that chance in bypassing
potential tone setter for the sake of trying to make it up for Hill. That's just way too risky. If Hill develops as well as we successfully nab a very fine prospect
that's just more enrichment in the DL.for years to come.

What do you mean by “done”?
they’re not going to cut him.

Done. It's so silly. Hill is not going anywhere. He was drafted as an athletic specimen who was a project. Too bad Marinelli gave up on the project, but Hill will get another chance with a new coaching staff. An NFL offseason should boost his strength up too.

Do people think guys that big with that much burst grow on trees?

The guy who went to bat for him is in Oakland... and apparently he couldn’t get out of Rods doghouse.

I see this as insurance as we seem to have had a noticeable hole at DT(duh) and they wanted Stop Gaps at DT jn vets who could give them time to find their eventual replacements

Hell who knows maybe a quality leader in McCoy can help Hill get closer to his potential
