I have realized that how I feel about Broaddus is how some of you feel about Mickey. There was a time that I thought Broaddus was on point with his views, until he wasn’t and he got really upset when someone told him, got real salty. Started acting like he was/is the guru never admit that he was wrong. He’s still that way I was glad they fired him. He was wrong on a lot

Well, yeah, until Jerry decides the ship is righted, feels the imminent success will take credit away from him, and runs MM out of town.

Not like he hasn't done that before.
That didn't happen.
He waited till the success happened and then got rid of the guy taking credit away from him.
This team wins another couple championships... he can do whatever he wants with the last few years of his life.
Fire everyone! Become coach for his last 3 years of life and let him do it from a hyperbaric chamber for all I care.

I guess Mickey is an aquired taste. I like listening to him but I'm not going to begrudge those that don't. I would hate to live in a world where everyone liked the same things and had the same opinions about everything.

The thing I'm curious about is, if the Talkin'Cowboys podcast is going to continue with a new line up and Mickey is still going to have a podcast of a different name then why not continue to call the podcast that Mickey is on, "Talkin' Cowboys" and let the the new lineup call their podcast something else? Mickey founded Talkin' Cowboys many years ago and even though the lineup has changed many times, Mickey Spagnola has always been the common denomicator. I've been listening to Talkin' Cowboys from the very begining and it's always been Mickey's podcast. Changing that now just seems unwarrented since he's still going to have a podcast.

Here is a question for anyone that has been listening to Talkin' Cowboys for a long time... Do you remember Laura Beke on TC? :)

In my opinion I don’t see that, I see that others are jealous that Mickey has been there the longest and they are younger and with most young people they are always trying to prove they no more than people older, so they attack Mickey with their attitude and supposed intellect and what they feel things should be.
Reporters now days write and report with a lot of sensationalism, very opinionated probably 1 to 5% of truth. Mickey is not like that.

Well, if you enjoy his content I'm not going to try to talk you out of it. I'm glad you like it. Different strokes, and all that... Doesn't work for me though.

He's a total company man. He exists to justify and make excuses for the FO. And his disdain for the fans is obvious.

Jerry, is the FO, but he doesn’t run the whole FO. I still believe Stephen has a lot of control. I will agree that the Organization failed Romo. I think the FO does a good job of drafting but Jerry/FO has failed the fans with their decision on coaches, mainly the coaching staff and the control he wouldn’t give the HCs, specifically Garrett for 9 yrs.
But yeah I get it. I am put out with the FO some especially Jerry but I still say he’s the best owner in the league. He just needs to get out of the way

I am always in this weird space where I feel sorry for Mickey than I hear him on the radio and think, geez, he really is THAT bad.
It is a strange place to be. I feel similarly. Even to the point that I stopped listening to Talkin Cowboys, despite my podcast addiction. On some level Mickey has earned a level of respect, but on the other. the show was simply unbearable to me and what looks like a vast majority of listeners.

The real story here is Derek Eagleton's reaction and implementation of this new plan. For anyone looking at it from a business management or leadership perspective, this move is really something to learn from. One one side, he frees Talkin Cowboys from this mess, while at the same time showing Mickey a decent level of respect, and also placating the group of fans who actually like Mickey on a podcast. While I won't be listening to it, I hope "Mick Shots" does well enough to continue. There's an audience for that, so let those people have something to enjoy.

I'm looking forward to the re-vamped Talkin' Cowboys. Kudos to Eagleton for finding a very good answer.

Fella I am more than doubling down, you know how long you have been a fan , and I know how long I have been.
You have an issue that I have been a fan longer, or you just don’t believe that I can be a fan since I was a year old? You don’t know me or my family, but yet if you were to see pictures or hear someone famous say that you would believe them. Funny I cannot be a fan at one but yet 3/4 tears later play pop warner according to your logic I didn’t do that either. I bet you loved the circus.

I’m absolutely doubting the ability of a one year old to be a fan a specific football team.

Good point that *some* fans probably like him. I'm guessing it's the older fans. Except for Jerry, Mickey has the longest institutional memory. That history has value.

But I find Mickey annoying, relatively stupid, and a detriment to shows because he digs in like a tick with his stupid takes and then gets hot and bothered when people disagree. Gets all uppity with fans too. Way too emotional, and it's directed at *people*, not the team.

Should hold the show in his front yard, so he can screech "Now get offa my lawn!" That should be the tag line of all of his articles. That would actually be funny for him to do. Good marketing too. I'd give him props for that.

I’m sorry you feel that way. I gave you an explanation , of my family dynamics even when I started playing football in pop warner as young as 4/5. I know my family is not the only one that is all Cowboys. I have a very large family with grandparents and aunts and uncles having a lot of kids.
Nevertheless it’s true, so doubt all you want it’s your prerogative

Some fans actually do like him, as shown in this very thread. More than you'd even believe. I think it's perfect that there's a new podcast starting up that gives those folks something. I won't be listening, but wish the best to Mick and everyone who does listen. I hope it's a reasonable success... just not to the point that it stops The Break from happening or anything like that.

Interesting...…….….there was some tension on last weeks Talking Cowboys between Mickey and the other three. They were discussing free agents and Mickey was saying stuff like "I am trying to teach you guys how the league works" and stuff like that. The other three were starting to get pissed so I wonder if any of them went to Derrick and complained.

I can see that.
