The Cowboys have a storied history of dominant offensive lines. They recently added to it by drafting Connor McGovern in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Will McGovern be the next in a long line of stars? Or will he just be overkill in an already crowded lineup? Matt Minich breaks down some of McGovern's college game tape to show Cowboy fans what they could expect this season.

Last year, I thought the third round was a little high for a depth pick and it was a little too early to be giving up on Connor Williams. With Frederick retiring, I'm very happy that we made this pick. We've at least got some potential options along the front because of it.

If Looney wins the job, fine. If McGovern proves to be better, that's fine too.

It wouldn't even surprise me if the starting line ends up: Smith, Knight, McGovern, Martin, Collins ... because I was fairly impressed with what I briefly saw from Knight.

The surprise for me would be if Redmond ended up as the starting center.

ill be happy if he proves to be an above average starter and long term solution at either guard or center. Not gonna be picky. Always the draft this year and next year to finish rebuilding the line long term.

Most are saying he should be the center but I have had heard nothing on his intelligence to recognize defenses which is essential for a center. Doesnt have great feet so I am unsure if he can be a guard for us. Center seems to be the best option for him but Looney has that on lock.

I think McGovern's a year away. I really think Williams is our guard next year and Looney is our center.

That would be completely pathetic.

The perfect draft for me would be to take a CB#1 and a center with the 2nd pick getting one of the top 2 centers.

Have him step right in at Center and Williams and McGovern can battle it out at Guard. Looney can go where he belongs to the bench as an excellent backup at guard and center.

This the ONLY shot we have to return to a dominant Oline this year and going forward.

McGovern was my favorite pick of the draft. Seemed like a credible day one starter at LG to me. Getting that in the 3rd *for the next 4 years* would have been great.

Oline is very interesting for the draft now.

Probably right. Gotta hope otherwise though, since realistically the team cant contend until 2021, then McGovern is still essentially a rookie.

Also, not that Looney is awful, but McGovern needs to be able to beat him out.

Yup. Looney is a backup type.

He really doesn't. Looney is the fallback plan, not the lock.

McG has very high intelligence. Also a great leader.

McGovern has great feet. That was one of his selling points.
