I don't mind having "hope" with Gregory, it would be nice to see the investment finally pay off and the young man carve out a career and life for himself. My issue comes with counting on that as a strategy.

What else do we have, or they have? Injury prone Crawford? And expect a rookie to dominate?

I'm not making a claim here. I do not know for sure if these are MM hires or not. I've seen nothing to suggest these are MM hires or Jerry's. This coaching staff for sure is on MM. No doubt. But if MM didn't want Cooper and Dak...do I think they would've let them walk? No. I don't.

And I'm not disagreeing with you here. What you're saying is exactly what I'm saying. This is a committee. I don't think this is just MM which the article tries to state.
He's the HC so of course these are his hires. His groceries.

I'd say shorter, not better. Nobody would have had the patience with lack of results that Jerry Jones had with his pet project. Anywhere else, they would have demanded results.

He was never up to the job he was given. It's not an either/or of blame between he and Jerry, it's both. One's mistakes don't erase the other's.
Shorter if he failed yes. Do I think he could've won a ring with Flacco like Harbaugh did? No. But I have nothing to back up to say that he couldn't have either. The Ravens job was much better than this one. In a easier division and the culture was much better than here.

Not giving Garrett a pass by any means but he was asked to fix a culture here that got ruined by Jerry and Wade. That culture in Baltimore has been the same for 20 years. Its in place.

That's not how things work in Dallas. I know its what you want to believe because well its what we want. But until proven otherwise Jerry and Stephen are still running this show.

The Heath and Witten departures? To my knowledge Heath left here and got a deal with the Raiders. I haven't read anything that said they wouldn't have brought him back on a cheap veteran deal. To me they couldn't' justify giving Jarwin a 4 year deal and bring back Witten. Not for the money they did. They had to get rid of Witten in order for Jarwin to live up to that deal.

Some reporters claim Garrett would do it behind the scenes.

And I have no doubts that the cowboys give Heath the same deal the raiders did and being Witten back if Redball is still coaching. Just saying.

They have free agency, and much better, more proven options there. Again, I'll reiterate, Crawford is no viable option at RDE. Give me Joe Jackson, Dorance Armstrong, heck even Jaylen Jelks. I will take an unknown over a known poor fit.

His approach to this off season after the draft with everything we have going on in the US will be crucial to the success of this season.

I am curious to see how we approach the draft this season. With Will McClay still being in house will it really be a different approach? If Cee Dee Lamb is available do we draft him?
McClay doesn't solely determine needs or what kind of players are required for roles in the new offense and defense. His priority role is to evaluate players. Obviously he will make very clear the players he truly believes in, but the coaching staff and Jerry/Stephen will be the leaders in determining priorities, and what kind of players they will be looking for.

Possibly. I can't say for sure if they wouldn't. I don't think they would. I honestly think they were over Heath and Witten at this point. Stephen anyway. Jerry for sure I can see him bringing Witten back.

Look at the coaches that were brought in. Who had connections to those coaches? Garrett? Or the Joneses?

It's not that hard.
And I just said that the coaches are on Mike McCarthy except Kellen Moore and Leon Lett.

But Jerry and Stephen have never been shy about letting even Garrett hire his own staff. The one guy I'm not sure about is Kellen Moore. But the rest of that crap for the most part was JG's decision. And the same is happening now. This isn't foreign to how the Cowboys run their organization.

Exactly my point. The Joneses never forced any coaches on Garrett. Those decisions, for better or worse, were his.

Ehhh.....I hate to be that guy but all he did was sign 2 30 year old defensive tackles and let 2 of his best defensive players from last season go. Granted, I have no problem with this but those departures and additions probably have more to do with the Cowboys than him.

we can agree...lol I say the same thing, what the heck has changed. we still are finding guys that fit a system. it's what all coaches do.

But I already know what this is. Fluff piece while we are in the honeymoon phase.

..I would have paid Dak, let Cooper walk. Many can catch footballs, not many can throw them.

It will be a team effort as usual based on MM when drafting. I'm just curious to see the difference of selecting players in general. Best player available or by need for example. MM has already stated that they will be a big emphasis on defense this year

Fluff piece? Probably. Like with every team, nothing’s guaranteed, and the percentages favor those immersed in it for a living. So really, it’s up to the fan to get out of it what they want. Some enjoy hope and optimism, while others are more comfortable with doom and gloom.

IMO, most of us like the team’s changes.

Maybe it’s BPA among players of need.

They had at least been nosing around with safeties - Lloka, Thomas, Adams … it sure seemed they were looking for some change.
