We don't know how he plans to address replacing Jones and Quinn, but we do know the defense is going to look much different. I expect them to try and replace those two guys via the draft, I do like the defensive options available in the first four rounds. Me personally, I like the Baun kid from Wisconsin; he can bring the heat off the edge!
Baun would be a 3-4 nightmare for other teams, dude is explosive and versatile. He’s a diet TJ Watt

Jason was still a novice HC after a decade. I doubt if any NFL team would ever hire him as a HC again.

Clearly you haven't been watching the NFL long, with its extended history of hiring retreads. He'll eventually resurface, especially since outside of the brain dead Cowboy bubble he has a good resume.

It will be a team effort as usual based on MM when drafting. I'm just curious to see the difference of selecting players in general. Best player available or by need for example. MM has already stated that they will be a big emphasis on defense this year
I think BPA is often misconstrued because obviously need and position have to play some part. For example, if a team is stacked at a position already they aren't going to use a key pick further stacking that position and ensuring very good players will have to be benched because there isn't enough playing time to go around. It's much better to have a quality starter at one position than a somewhat better player at another position sitting on the bench.

They had at least been nosing around with safeties - Lloka, Thomas, Adams … it sure seemed they were looking for some change.

Yet head scratching in their approach.
If they couldn't get 'best in the league' in Thomas or Adams - at their price - they then chose to do nothing at all. A perplexing strategy to say the least. And one proven not to have worked.

I knew you wouldn’t be able to resist coming here to crap on a positive thread. That’s not you.

Saying Garrett will be rehired to a different team in the future is crapping on this "positive" thread? Did they bring the pills around this morning, BeerTroll?

His approach to this off season after the draft with everything we have going on in the US will be crucial to the success of this season.

I am curious to see how we approach the draft this season. With Will McClay still being in house will it really be a different approach? If Cee Dee Lamb is available do we draft him?
I'd rather take Denzel Mims over Cee Dee Lamb.

Fluff piece? Probably. Like with every team, nothing’s guaranteed, and the percentages favor those immersed in it for a living. So really, it’s up to the fan to get out of it what they want. Some enjoy hope and optimism, while others are more comfortable with doom and gloom.

IMO, most of us like the team’s changes.
I like the teams changes too. I'm ready to see the head coach put in his work. I don't care about these GM moves.

Yeah I agree. They had been trying to replace him just didn't do it hard enough I guess. But Heath was never coming back. Unless someone wants to tell me they were doing this because they were replacing Woods but I Don't by that.

Imagine what a real coach/ Staff would have done with the 2014 & 2016 team?!

In his minor defense......those were actually the years he coached well. Probably his best years. I have no problem with those years. It was the 8-8 years and the 4 win season I had a problem with.

What else do we have, or they have? Injury prone Crawford? And expect a rookie to dominate?
lots of time between now and the start of the season..Still moves to be made. TC cuts...trades....obviously not the final product.

I really don't see a huge difference in this approach than years past, besides the signing of Poe. Like normal, we skipped the first wave and signed some older vet players during second. I'm not doubting that McCarthy has his influence and I am sure we may see it more and more as this thing moves along. This piece was a bit over the top though.

But hey, I have basically been in my house for 18 days so bring me more.

He'll need to make an impressive showing as oc of the giants for him to ever be considered head coaching material again.

he or the team played well? Romo was essentially the OC out there...and the only thing that held them back was a crappy defense...Not sure Garrett did much ...as for 2016...well having the best line and the best rb in the league certainly helped. once teams had to focus on Zeke , it made the passing game a lot easier for a mobile qb. as crazy as it is to say..I think Linehan played a big role in 2016...

Correct I wouldn't put it past us to rehire him. Hahaha
