It’s not just one guy, it’s league wide. 2 of the top 10 leading running backs made the playoffs this year. RB’s aren’t worth the money, especially the highest paid ever, and they certainly aren’t worth a top 10 draft pick especially when a team already has one of the best run blocking O lines in the league. Jerry got fleeced and as a result so did the fans.

But hey, as I said, when you’re talking to your non Cowboys friends or co workers and they’re talking about playoffs you can tout how many times Zeke has led the league in yards and how much that did for this team.
Give him 41 more carries last year and he would have led the league again.

Could have of got Henry in the 2nd round the same year we wasted the 4th on Zeke and I guarantee it would be Henry who won those rushing titles and Cowboys fans would be talking about how much better he is than Zeke due to those titles.

Why hasn't Henry been winning multiple rushing titles with the Titans? They too have a top 5 offensive line. Where has he been? He also provides very little in the passing game.

My criticism of Zeke stems from his off field behavior, the potential negative impact to the team, and how that possibility can never be dismissed. Any success on the field could instantly be erased in one night.

Someone with that size of a paycheck and cap hit should be expected to behave in a way that assures us we have nothing to fear.

Does anyone think that Dak considered how his contract holdout was going to effect the team's potential to win a championship given the very short windows of opportunity these days? What potential contributor or contributors did the Cowboys have to cut to re-adjust the salary cap? Which potential veteran free agent did the Cowboy have to give up on?

Right now, the Cowboys face the possibility of repeating their greatest error, placing too large a part of the cap on too few of their players.

Have you seen his carries?! It has nothing to do with him not being able to handle the workload, he looks like he’s talking a Sunday jog through the park when jogging back from to huddle after a 50 yard run whereas zeke is tapping out. People want to blame coaching on zeke not being used properly, take a look at TN past coaching. Again, receiving has to do with play calling.

BTW, 2016 both lines were close but Dallas was still better, 2017 Dallas was 20 spots better than TN, 2018 Dallas was 10 spots better than TN and 2019 they were very close again. So no, their O lines have been far from equivalent for half their careers.

But you can;t leverage the other faults of the team. All those average running backa you LOVE...let's cite New England like you guys always do....you aren't accounting for the rest of the Dallas Cowboys team . You sit there and tell us how bad Jerry Sucks...how BAD Garret sucks. Then tell us how Zeke doesn;t help .

Yes....it's true....teams have won without an elite running back. But they have had better OTHER things. That so conveniently ignore. And you act like Dak stayed healthy and full of stats all on his own.

I call bull....sheeet. TOTAL bull sheet. So much of Dak's "success" are not because of any jag rb.

I don’t know people change esp after getting older and or situations happening to them. Zeke hasn’t been in any trouble recently

Most of it was BS anyway. I get it...Zeke doesn't like to stay home with tea and crumpets. But the police said the girl lied.....the kid tripped himself over a blockade. But the court of public opinion, Roger GODell, and SOME Cowboys "fans"........hate the Cowboys......so punishment inflicted.

Really, how many of those teams had the second best best run blocking line in the league? How many had a top receiver?

And you’re right, they had better other things which is the whole point your missing and YOU ignore. They had better OTHER things that helped them win championships which weren’t overpaid diva running backs. They were able to afford those other things by not using the 4th overall pick on a RUNNING BACK and by not wasting salary cap space by paying a RUNNING BACK the most ever for that position because he decided to sit out with two years left on his contract.

I’m pretty sure this thread has nothing to do with Dak so I don’t know why had to throw that in there at the end.

And he was dumb enough to pull up a girls top in public WHILE being investigated for DV against a woman and he knocked out a DJ AFTER being suspended for DV. And he confronted a security guard AFTER being suspended for DV instead of walking away and he got kicked out of a Las Vegas nightclub for trying to fight ANOTHER DJ AFTER being suspended for DV and he screwed his teammates over by sitting out with 2 years left on his contract and he was such a punk partier in college that his roommate, Joey Bosa, moved out and his dad moved closer to be near him.

But yeah...there’s no connections there, zeke is just a poor innocent victim who has done nothing wrong and brought none of it on himself. I guess his dad was wrong when he said he was worried about his maturity in the NFL. You seemed to have it all figured it bro, got me convinced!

Yeah the court of public opinion is a big thing. Some people love to chastise others but hopefully Zeke can just stay out the press for those type of situations. The sports talk shows need stuff like that so make sure it’s not you giving them the food they need.

Dallas is what Dallas front office does. Dumb crap! Jerry could of got Zeke and Dak for cheaper if he had played his cards right. But as usual he was playing checkers.

I obviously cannot convince you of anything. Every football player EVER...including all our old cowboys from the 70's, 80's...90's even...were perfect angels never did ANY partying or anything wrong. Ever. Especially those 60's and 70's cowboys....perfect angels. Good call dude...you got me!

No, they weren’t perfect but times have changed. The rules were different, society was different and there’s social media all over the place now. Players are always being watched and they’re being held more accountable. The difference is some players are smart enough to do things privately because they are aware of consequences and others are dumb as a pile of rocks who continue to act like jack holes in public, Zeke ks leading the pack.

Extracurricular activities aside, it doesn’t change the fact drafting him number 4 overall and paying him as much as we did was a complete waste and twenty plus years of historical statistics with RB’s, Super Bowl winners, etc prove that. Hey, you’re right though, he won rushing titles so he’s the best (never take O lines into account) so we should pay him as the best even though it makes zero sense from a business standpoint.

At the end of the day, the only real answer is they shouldn't have spent a top 5 pick on a RB in the first place. Compared against what a nice mid-round pick like Murray gave us when we gave him a great line and a run-oriented offense to play in, he didn't add nearly enough to justify the massive leap in investment from 3rd round pick to 4th overall pick to justify the expense.

It really isn't that hard to admit this.

It doesn't much matter how good Zeke was in a vacuum. In today's NFL, it's just bad business.

If we spend our 17th pick in the 1st round on a placekicker this year and he's routinely one of the best 2 or 3 kickers in the game, no amount of praising him and drooling over his production will change the fact that it's stupidity to spend that high a pick on that position. And that's even after we just had a 2019 season where we lost multiple games thanks to the kicking. Whereas, when we drafted Zeke, we had a RB who had just finished 4th in the league in rushing in 2015.

No, I didn’t claim Mahomes was the leading rusher. I compared the importance the Chiefs place on the QB position to the importance they place on RB. To underscore the fact that championships are won in this league by passing the ball effectively.
That is not what your post said.
