Dez still working out and vying for chance with Cowboys

I'm not sure you understand how difficult it is to put the ball where the receiver wants it to be. Most quarterbacks deliver to a catch radius because it's pretty much impossible to place a ball perfectly on point every time.

It's easy to watch Dez's play with Dak and see that Prescott either wasn't comfortable or wasn't able at that point in his career to place the ball where it needed to be with Dez. With receivers who don't really create much separation, it takes more accuracy to put that ball up over the corner where the receiver can win it. Too low and the corner's body is in the way. Too high and the receiver can't climb the ladder enough. Too wide and the receiver can't adjust against the direction his momentum is taking him.

I'm not discrediting the catches; those were Dez's strong point. If the QB put it up there in Dez's zone, he was going to go get it. Again, you can go back and listen to what Romo had to say about where the ball needed to be placed.

Now, I don't want to put the blame on Dez's falloff squarely on Prescott. Injuries also took some of Bryant's ability to win the jump balls as well as any explosiveness that he had. He essentially became a one-trick pony and he wasn't near as good at that trick as he had been. (This is when the route-running complaints emerged, which were legitimate mainly because Dez never really had had to focus on route precision before.)
Look Dude. Don’t give me that “DONT understand bs”. I know what I’m talking about from sheer experience. Like I said. The catches were more difficult than the passes. Romo wasn’t making acrobatic passes. But Dez made the acrobatic catches consistently. All that other mess you posted is irrelevant to my point. Now if you’re saying it took more effort to throw those passes than it did to catch them, let’s debate. If not, save the Romo heroism rants and the Dak criticism. Dak has nothing to do with my comment... Please. Thank you.

Dez is looking good. Better than his last few years with the Cowboys.

Sign him to the 90 man roster and see what he's still got? What say you?

Totally depends on his mindset. If the diva has been washed away then maybe. He might be ok as a 3rd or 4th. Don't have ANY time for him to distract even one play this year.

I'm on Dez' side.
The guy can play, and he made some big plays, and we watched his career be wasted.
Like Jimmy Johnson said, "playmakers" are what you look for. Dez is and always has been a playmaker.

All true that chance exists and it is a risk . I just feel looking at the work he is putting in that his larger than life personality could have a positive
effect at this point in his career.

He has nothing to lose and really must be a positive force all the way around from his performance on the field to mentoring the young bucks off the field to fulfill his dream .

I would love to see a feel good story also regarding Dez , Have watched too many players regress and waste their careers here under this coaching and culture . Things look to have changed radically for the better in those areas and it could be just what Dez needs at this point in his life and career

Fear is a powerful motivator and as much as he would probably love to be the old Dez he has to know it would negate all his hard work and cost him any chance he has to resurrect his career.
I think Dez on one side and Coop on the other would make a great tandem. However, Dez is done with the Cowboys and possibly any other team. If he had not gotten injured when he played with the Saints, things might be different. Can you say XFL?

I would have liked to see him in the XFL proving himself for an audition here

I would like to bet on his talent. I think he could be a valuable slot guy and a red zone threat. I would feed Dez slants all day and let him punish tacklers. I truly think he can do that.

That said the guy is a locker room cancer and a major headache for coaches. So I would pass. There is a reason other teams are not lining up.

Did Dez lose a step? Yes he did.

But what I remember the most out of Dez in his final year here was Dak throwing awful passes and expecting Dez to make circus catches.

That’s the problem with stats. You look at his completion percentage and think oh, he’s accurate..Dak makes the right decision more often than not, but his throws are just flat out all over the field. Even easy throws to Zeke your like what the hell was that.

And I like Dak for the most part.. but yeah I’m not sold at all.

I thought Bryant had dyslexia. I’ve watched some of his catchers where the ball was low. Instead of having palms up he would have palms forward and bounce right off his hands .Also problem learning a playbook attention deficit. He was so dramatic. But he was so inconsistent on third down . For me it wasn’t the amount of passes he dropped. It’s when he drop them

Inconsistent on third down?

I was one of the hardest critics of Dez when he was here last . He had flat out lost his concentration was hearing footsteps and was way too prideful to admit he was a mess and needed to rededicate himself .

That said when a guy has a year to assess his game and contemplate his future sometimes thats enough to realize where the wheels came off the wagon and get refocused
It looks like by the training and time he is dedicating he has rededicated himself into doing the things he was to stubborn and prideful to do before . If Im Jerry the Gambler I just have to see if it has paid off and I can steal a bargain . I see Jerry giving him a look in camp just because he would hate to see him land elsewhere and hurt us .

Yes. But. And there is always a but.

what good would that have done if he didn’t have a QB that could get him the ball.

May have done him more damage then good.

Im actually kind of worried about Dak getting him the ball if Jerry pulls the trigger . Those 2 just did not have the best chemistry but I believe Dak has matured and progressed and Dez work ethic looks much improved .

So things might really click this year if he gets a chance in camp

Dez had his chance and blew it. Continue to move on.

he broke his leg and tore his Achilles .

he has an unbelievable work ethic.

that’s how he came from nothing to be one of the best WRs in Cowboys history.

comments won’t stop him.

he wants another shot.

This situation reminds me of when you finally get your 30 year old kid to move out of the house on his own and then he is asking to come back.
Dez is more of a distraction than a football asset. Its not just his ability to play even though I think that has declined this team is headed in a new direction and there is no reason to bring up the past.
