You are getting off track. This debate isn't about whether or not we should pay Dak. No one said we should pay Dak in this discussion. Fact is, this organization felt Jones was expendable and that article I posted proved that. You are arguing against articles and facts at this point.

No one is arguing that Byron isn't better than what we have. He is. But for his production you can get that same production from guys you have on your team is the point. You can't say the same about Dak and Cooper Rush.

Actually, I'm not. Our discussion, you and I, is over your post. It's over you saying that the whole "Cap Hell" is just an excuse fans use not to pay Dak. That's what this discussion, between you and I is over. It's about you saying that kind of stuff and then turning around and saying you don't want to hear it etc. Yet, when the very same argument is used to examine the question of Byron, none of it applies because he's not the QB. That's what this discussion is about.

You don't get to have it both ways. Not gonna happen.

I don't know what you are going on about but the Cowboys are not in cap hell. I can't stress it enough and I have nothing else to give you to help you understand it. Keep thinking they are in cap hell and hopefully they keep spending money and proving you wrong. "Cap hell" is a myth.

There will be needs developing that we are not seeing now so I think you have to prepare for that by not spending too much now.

I wish they would get Dak’s contract done. They could have his cap number lowered, along with restructuring Crawford’s bloated figure and have even more room. Go on a decent spending spree now that the market’s salary range is getting into their comfort zone. There are some good buys out there waiting on us to slowly, methodically pounce on.

Or methodically pass on.

Yep, I know. We never wanted Byron right? We aren't in cap hell and the guys we don't sign are not QBs so they don't deserve to have their situations addressed because we never wanted them anyway. Only Dak right? I require no help, I see how it is with you and those who share your point of view.

Hell thy self Bro.

Once again....I don't know what you are going on about but the article that was posted on this site quoted Byron himself saying his departure had nothing to do with money. Are you going to believe yourself or Byron himself?

I'm going to believe he elected to take the high road and not throw his former teammates under the bus. I choose to believe what we saw on the field more than a person who has no reason to attack his former teammates.

There are numerous ways to take a high road. Now he's not gonna come out and say they sucked. But what he said is what he believes the team felt about the secondary.

I saw some teams with cap space and others with none.. the chiefs had $177.00 right not a typo and still they are trying to resign Watkins and how about their draft picks.. lol thats the price of a SB, what happens when Mahomes comes with his 18wheeler for money? how long can they sustain greatness with zero cap money.

apparently we need to spend more lol

The Cowboys like most teams budget their cap in 5 year increments. Looking at any single year and asking why the Cowboys don't sign so and so is shortsighted and useless.

Most players who leave give the exact interview Jones did. "The unit will be great... there is a lot of young talent that will shine.... they will do big things..." its the same interview over and over and yet it rarely works out that way.

Now maybe, despite the secondary being the weaknesses of the team, losing the best player, by far, in that secondary will not have a significant dropoff, but that seems unlikely.

I don't see how it won't. They got zero interception with Byron. Fans claim "no one throws his way". So that unit shouldn't have much of a drop off next year.

I’m interested to see if a new philosophy works...get rush up the middle AND outside and see how good it makes a secondary as a QB is throwing off his back foot. I’ve always believed you could have 4 top DBs but if it’s flag football and a NFL QB has time, they will hit a WR. Our guys could be Pro Bowlers if QBs get hit

INTs are a trash stat to judge a CB by. They are too dependent on outside factors to even be a relevant statistic when evaluating CBs. You judge a CB by by A. How often he is targeted abd B. How good is he when that happens.

By both metrics Jones was elite and the only great piece of the secondary. Now maybe they can lose by far their best player and get better, but history suggests that won't happen.
