The Cowboys have been trying to sign Dak for two years. Its been Dak that has made this process THIS long.
I'm not sure that Dallas was offering him a deal when he was stinking up the joint just prior to Cooper showing up. I'd have thought he'd jump at a $20+ million deal at that point. My guess is that Dallas did their normal wait until the last minute process and approached him heading into the last season.

This is the 2nd offseason that the Cowboys have been trying to sign Dak. Call that time frame whatever you want.
Its been well documented how long the Cowboys have been trying. Not sure why some of you people seem so clueless on this.

Don't you recall the Dak turds all up in arms last offseason claiming how they wanted Dak on another prove it year before signing him? Now those same turds are pissed that the Cowboys didn't try to sign him last year. LOL

Yet it was those same turds saying would shouldn't have.

Do we have to pick just one?

I have three answers and all three are the same:

For all the mistakes this front office has made in the last 3 season the biggest one that came to your mind was letting Beasley walk?.......lol ok

Not even close to the biggest mistake. Multiple mistakes especially with the drafting

Letting Marinelli talk the coaching staff, scouting staff and the Front office into not taking a run stopping DT and letting him pick guys in the draft he likes that had Hustle instead of taking kids who had production in college.

Letting Jason Stay too long...that would be the HC and as much as I respect his play and what he has done for this team over years it also includes the TE.

Playing Byron Jones at safety before finally moving to CB where he flourished.

Passing up on Safeties available in our first or second rounds.

Passing up a player they had rated a round higher in McGovern to take a player that Rod loved because he had a quick twitch in Hill.

Letting Beasley walk was not even close to the number of mistakes this team has made over the last few years.

keeping jason this long. ( dysfunctional game management , no accountability , failing strategy )
keeping marinelli this long ( huge misses on defensive picks , plus the lack of defensive strategy under marinelli )
overpaying zeke

Besides keeping Garrett around?

I'd say letting Beasley walk.

The front office could have afforded him. Now there is a void to fill with Cobb leaving. Cobb was good, but did not show up when needed.

Beasley was just too reliable to be seen as expendable. Maybe he became a diva. But he certainly proved his point.

In Buffalo last season, Beasley caught 67 passes for 778 yards and 6TDs.

Well worth 7 million per year.
Signing Zeke over Jones and it isn't really close.

According to this white russian sitting next to me, letting go of Mike White is the biggest mistake Dallas has made in the last three years.

Overpaying DLaw and Zeke.

I’m all for good players getting a good payday, but we maxed these guys out. And we’ll likely do the same with Dak at some point.

Other than MAYBE(?) Zeke, there isn’t an obvious HOFer in the bunch.
