How long do we have to make a decision on him if we keep him or not? I beleive he is under our control right now.

Didn’t he have a drug related arrest in the offseason? He was likely facing a suspension to the start the season but with the new CBA I guess not anymore. It seems all we know is that he hasn’t signed. I don’t think we know whether or not he has been offered anything from Dallas yet. I guess it’s possible he was offered but wants more money and so he hasn’t signed it which means he would have to cave at some point or sit out the season.

seems to me like he's in limbo. Didn't sign and can't sign anywhere else. I thought he played well enough and would be a great piece to mix in with Poe and McCoy.

He's an exclusive rights free agent, meaning the Cowboys control his rights exclusively. And it seems to be that the team is intentionally doing nothing for now and letting him twist in the wind. It's possible that's because if his screwups last year. I think he was sent home for being late as well as an off-field arrest. I think that they will sign him, but they're not in a hurry. And he might be facing a suspension at some point as well.

He was ERFA this past offseason per OTC.

Since he was a EFRA, he is/was bound to what ever contract thrown his way by the Cowboys, and no other team can sign him if the Cowboys offered him a contract.

Both Spotrac and OTC show him on the team with a 750k cap hit for 2020 fwiw

He’s either on the team for his 3rd year minimum of $750k or he’s an UFA. The team would have had to tender him by the start of the league year to hold his exclusive rights. I guess there is a third option where they rendered him and he just hasn’t signed it. I haven’t seen anything official.

Off-field arrest? Aren't all arrests off field? I don't understand the distinction you are making by calling it "off-field".

That's what I'm leaning towards too.

He's a Cowboy.
Nothing more to it.
Paperwork will come when it must.

He's on a 1 year 750k deal.
They can let him go for nothing were he to get in trouble again but hard to get in trouble during quarantine.

He is an Exclusive Rights Free Agent which is like an oxymoron. The Cowboys own his rights and no one else can sign him. The Cowboys don't have to do anything with him and he plays this year at the league minimum, which is $750k. Or, they can sign him to a longer term contract if they want to keep him around. It looks like they are going to pay him the minimum this year and he will be a free agent next year.
