so he deserves 28M per year for making a couple of throws and having total of 160 yards passing in two games...

and when Henry couldn't be a factor like against KC....team lost....

the key to stopping titans wasn't stopping Tannehill, it was Henry. and that wasn't an easy task. when you succeeded. you beat Titans handily...

Tannehill played pretty well in Miami given the state of the offense around him and the coaching was arguably even worse than Garrett.

He helped take the Titans to the AFC Championship game - Mariota couldn't do the same although he was still good enough to win at AT& T

Tannehil had a solid year and this is his reward . While he is not in the mahomes , rogers , wilson , brady top 5 QBs level , he beat KC Chiefs and New England away in the playoff. Hey he is being rewarded for a great year for the titans. they had a winning season . We have a QB in Dak who has done nothing lof note results wise last year and wants to be the top paid player.

I would rather have Tannehill than Prescott.

However, I wouldn't give either of them that deal.
The difference between Dak Prescott and Ryan Tannehill is that Dak stood around all season waiting for the Cowboys to play better.
Tannehill did everything he could to help the Titans win.
Dak is a great athlete, but he believes that the team must get better.
Tannehill is a pretty good athlete, but he believes that he has to make a difference for his team to win.
I'd take Tannehill. He understands that he has to make a difference.

wait, did I hear that right....there were worse coaches than garrett and linehan...but that hasn't been the argument in these neck of the woods for years, with statements like he can't even coach a college football team. he belongs to coaching peewee league if that, etc. but now all of a sudden to support a tennehill argument, garrett becomes better than coaches who were in Miami!!! wow. just wow how quickly people will pivot and change their argument to support their new argument.

he took a ride along with Henry and their defense to the AFCG....just like Dilfer did riding the ravens D to the superbowl championship. it didn't mean dilfer was a good QB...just like it doesn't mean Tannehill is a good QB....

mariotta sucked.

but I do find it interesting that on the one hand, you give credit to Mariota and tannehill for wins. on the other hand you give credit to the rest of cowboys when the cowboys win, but not Dak. that's called speaking from both sides of your mouth.

Also, Dak and Tannehill share the same agent (Todd France). I can’t stand the guy but he’s doing his job of fleecing teams for these big dumb contracts.

I do not get why people say Dak is making so much money from endorsements. I could not find an article on how much he makes, but I was able to find an article on the top 10 moneymakers in endorsements in the NFL and Dak was not on it with the 10th player making 5m so he must be making less than that in endorsements.

We have Dak under contract for 29 million this year. Honestly not sure why we would ever do anything. Let him play it out. He is already asking for the biggest contract in NFL history. If he wins the superbowl he will still be looking for the same amount and we win it all! If he goes 8-8 again then he loses leverage.

I would make him play on the tag for the next 2 years and make the QB run a major part of our offense. Our problem is that we get locked in. Ownership can't imagine the team without Dak for the next 15 years. They are terrified of playing without him. I say lets go ahead and give ourselves the best chance to win every year.

yes let him play out this next season and let us see what he can do. he regressed last year despite the empty yards and empty stats. he was a non factor at all the important games and lost most . 1-6 against winning teams.

We have Dak under contract this year for a good chunk of change. If he does great, next year he get's a great contract.
I'm 75% sure he does great, but in the event he does not, it's a new ballgame.

https://www.spotrac.com/research/nfl/breaking-down-ryan-tannehills-extension-1002/

This is such a interesting contract and I can actually see why Dak is a bit upset. I read the article this morning and actually last week I heard Ryen Russilo do a breakdown of the contract. He did not talk Dak at all.
So Tannehill got a 20 million dollar signing bonus, which he will get paid up front.
First year salary of 17 million + the bonus makes a total of 37 million in his first year.
The second year he has a salary of 24 million. Then there is a beautiful clause which states if he is on the roster on the 5th league day of 2021, (which is next year) his 2022 salary of 29 million becomes fully guaranteed.
If you guys are following me on this Tannehill basically got 91 million guaranteed for three years plus an out clause. I was blown away.
There is no way in hell that Tannehill is not on the roster on the 5th league day next year... The league year for 2020 started March 18th.

What an amazing deal for a guy who was the dictionary definition of a bus driver. Again I am not a Dak lover, supporter or anything like that, but he is too stupid to sign a deal or the Cowboys just really really don't want to sign him. Wow
You look at Tannehills stats as a starter with the Titans and he is much more efficient than Dak. Tannehill only played about 10 games but his completion percentage in the redzone and TD passing was great!

In January 2019 we were told on these forums that Dak would get a megabucks long term deal.

16 months later and no sign of it......
Yep! This could be the smartest thing the organization has done in the last 3 years.
