2nd round has been a sweet spot at WR for Mike McCarthy

Well, given how deep this WR class is there's a good chance that we could end up with a darn good 2nd or 3rd WR even in the later rounds.

I'm curious to see who we'll end up with. I have a few that I favor but am curious to see how the Cowboys view them as well.

Guys that could be in play in the 2nd are Reagor, Mims, Higgins, Hamler and maybe even Pittman depending on how they grade him

Hamler may be too much of a pure slot guy for them

CB deep also if we end up with a WR in first 2 rounds it won’t upset me. Ruggs, Jefferson the guy fromTCU Reagor can’t think of his name for sure .We can take CB in round 1 or 2 as well. The DE from LSU Chaisson wouldn’t tick me off either

this is a trade down year

Just because a wide receiver is considered to be one of the best in his class, doesn't mean Dak will have a natural connection with him. It's still a hit or miss situation. We need to remember...Romo to Roy Williams was horrible.

Fun fact. Williams' 3 years in Dallas vs. Cooper's 2 ... Amari has 38 more receptions, about 600 more yards, and 1 more TD. We also acquired him for fewer picks as Williams cost a 1st and a 3rd.

Greg Jennings
Jordy Nelson
Randall Cobb
Devonte Adams

Also, 4 out of the 12 drafts while he was coach in GB, the Packers took a WR. Not quit spamming, but thats still a solid rate

They also contributed right away for McCarthy as rookies, something most drafted WRs don't. None played as rookies at the level they are now obviously, but most had 40 or so catches. That would be good production for our 3rd WR, especially for a young player sure to improve.

Well Cooper has Dak throwing to him and Williams had Romo..... no surprise that Cooper is more productive

There is zero chance it falls this way but right now I'm thinking the value goes like this -

1st Round - BPA, hopefully Kinlaw
2nd - CB
3rd - WR
4th - OT

While I hope this trend continues, those picks were all Ted Thompson.

Ted had clear authority on the draft in Green Bay.

I've said all along that Michael Pittman, Jr. seems like a Mike McCarthy-type WR.

4? That would mean those four wr’s were the only drafts he took a wr in while he was there. That can’t be right.

I looked it up and they actually drafted at least one WR in 10 of the 13 seasons McCarthy was head coach.
