I know the forum has discussed this at to a fault but I have to say that after watching every play of that game again a bit ago I came away thinking that our defense was absolutely embarrassing.

Dak had a few bad throws, but watching all offensive possessions I still think he played more than well enough to win. The gameplan that we came out with offensively was just a recipe of failure against the defense the rams were running.

It felt like to me after watching it again that we didn't know how to adjust offensively, and it really felt like the offense was losing confidence watching the defense getting lit up for over 200 yards rushing.

Having said all of that, I really can't believe that this wasn't the moment that got Garrett fired! I'm still a little put off that Jerry had the never to bring him back another year after that performance. There is no doubt in mind that Jerry did what Jerry does best and that is make an emotional decision regarding the Freckled Puppet.

simple fact of the matter is jerry let his personal feeling for jason garrett interfere with business and football.

it should be a stark reminder how bad last season actually was that it was enough for jerry to let him go.

he should've been fired after his 2nd or 3rd 8-8 season.
he and his staff had no "feel" in regards to in-game decisions.
2ndly...his teams seemed to lack what he did...a killer-instinct.

I agree and will take it a step further in saying that Garrett should of never been giving the chance in the first place. I think most of us agree on that. I think the point of my post was after watching that game again I was literally sitting there dumbfounded how Jerry actually brought Garrett back. Thinking back, I think most of us knew that we would fail the following year, but we held out hope that we could just win without Garrett interfering, but the truth is we didn't have anyone leading the band, just a bunch of freelancers.

that game was an example of how his teams always seemed unprepared for the post season...coming out flat.

minnesota and new england last season were examples of his lack of "feel" for in game decisions...we run when we should be throwing(minnesota)....and throw when we should be running(new england).

Yes, I remember sitting on these forums at the end of last year hearing the discussions on whether or not Garrett would be fired or not... Without naming names, there was a forum goer that said "You can bet your house on it, Garrett will not be fired".... I remember taking exception to this guys comment because from what I was seeing with the team totally giving up I didn't see any possible way for Garrett to be brought back, even by Jerry..

Exactly! The inconsistency with the team was maddening.

Garrett should have never been fired as Cowboys' head coach. Because he never should have been hired in the first place.
Jerry thought he would grow into the head coach position. He never did. It is not in his DNA to be a head coach.
One of the happiest days of me as a fan is the day that dufus Garrett was canned.
I hope it is not one of those Steinbrenner-Martin hire and fire umpteen times. That would be a nightmare.

Where is the LOVE button... Seriously, you nailed it man! Of course Garrett should of never been hired that is a monumental truth, and it's frustrating that we had to try and support this team knowing we didn't have a coach capable of winning big games.

I agree, it's almost euphoric when I heard Garrett was finally gone. Jerry really let his selfish emotions taint the star and I'm not sure I can ever forgive him for that.. Well, maybe if Big Mike can win us another super bowl I'll forget about it..

He was retained because of the impressive rally to finish the season as well as the tough win vs Seattle.

He managed to ink out another season. The dude had nine lives. We have been a terribly frustrating team to watch, slow to adjust and then maddeningly over reactive, as if to prove the adjustments were a bad idea to begin with lol.

The next time this team takes the field there will be no scapegoat coaches. I look forward to putting it on our players and not feeling as if they didn't get a fair chance due to awful coaching.

Dak and the offense in general were terrible all game long, I have no idea what you think you watching. They were big underdogs against one of the highest scoring home teams in NFL history. Garrett should have been canned during the season, but once they made the playoffs nothing particularly egregious happened. They squeaked out a wild card win and lost to a better team in the next round.

Seeing the score again I was amazed they kept it that close.

Garrett came in as an interim head coach in 2010. Jerry should have been looking for a head coach for 2011. If not then he should have been fired after 3 straight 8-8 seasons.

Garrett was Head Coach in Waiting before 2010, and actually did well taking over for Wade. It was inevitable he would be HC the day Jerry hired him *before* hiring Wade.

Yea, could have been fired easily after 3-4 or 3-5 start.

After that went on a pretty good streak to finish 10-6 winning division and a playoff game. Then losing to eventual NFC champion at their place.
