I think we have shores up the DL if we can get all the troubled players on board.

LB I think is still an issue with the injury history there.

CB we need a top corner to shore up this position imo but we could get by with what we have if we have shores up the DL as it looks let we may have.

safety is still an issue. Wood is solid but we could use a high draft pick at the other position.

on offense...

rb is solid but depth in the draft is so good that if one drops it would be tempting

wr also a strong position with lots of talent. Not a great need but could be too good to pass up

Qb. On the surface doesn’t look like a need but you never know about a hold out or future options

OL. Definitely a need. OT is a great need and C is also a need but it doesn’t seem to be a great selection this year.

TE. Would not hurt for depth.

The Cowboys wide receiver duo of Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup might be one of the five-best wide receiver combinations in the NFL. The Cowboys just invested in Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup has two more years on his third-round rookie contract. If they have hopes of extending Gallup next offseason or re-signing him in the 2022 offseason, it makes it unlikely they’d invest a first round pick at the position as well.

Wide receiver is probably the deepest position in the 2020 NFL Draft. The Dallas Cowboys could certainly find someone to start from day one in the slot and be an instant contributor in three wide receiver sets. That depth affords them the opportunity to focus on their defense in the first round of the draft....

but,

It would be amazing to see the Cowboys lineup in 11-personnel (3 wide receivers, 1 running back, 1 tight end) with Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, Blake Jarwin, Ezekiel Elliott, and Ceedee Lamb, Jerry Jeudy, or Henry Ruggs III. The Cowboys offense, on paper, would be incredibly difficult to stop. Opposing defensive coordinators would be up at all hours of the night trying to figure out where to focus their defense’s attention.

*(this could be very hard to resist by a new coach)

Kinlaw is a potential game-wrecker on the interior of the defensive line that could be far too enticing for the Cowboys to pass up even if one of the top three wide receivers are still on the board.

The age top level for current CB's, presently 26. Next season, that includes, what, five free agents?

There is not currently a true #1 CB.

I have absolutely no idea how anyone can be comfortable with the depth of our wrs..don't want to take one round 1? Fine..

Don't tell me it isn't a need...we have xfl caliber players on the roster after Cooper and Gallup

We'll see if McCarthy brings new priorities. We let Byron go. Resigned Brown. Signed DTs and S. Maybe he just has different values for defense.

Did we ever hear more about King? Seemed like there were things linking him to Dallas, but now, nothing.

I honestly don't know. It went real quiet afterwards and looks like he removed his Twitter account for some reason.

Just odd because he would have been a huge upgrade over what we had and for a lot cheaper.

CB - To replace the #1 corner that we have lost

WR - To replace our slot receiver that we've lost. Two years ago in Cole Beasley, and this year in Randall Cobb

DE - To replace the 11.5 sacks we lost with Robert Quinn's departure. This would have been higher prior to the Smith signing, but I think it drops down a bit in the team's eyes. Not that I agree.

I realize alot of you think C is covered.

To me...no way.

Is there one so good you take them at 17?

Nope.

But if you move back somewhere at pick 25-32..

yes and pick up another pick for our risk to move back.

Then we take a C and that other pick and help another need.

Maybe even take our new pick, add it to our 2nd and move high in the 2nd to get better quality.

This just makes sense to me and if we just use that new pick and do not add the 2nd Rd pick to it..

we still have helped ourselves alot and risked nothing.

Just a thought. Jerrah thinks big, so who knows.

Just my opinion, but I believe that the priority is to strengthen the defensive line as much as possible in an effort to increase the pass rush pressure enough to cover for what is sure to be a secondary in transition in 2020, and likely 2021 as well. I think the hope isn't that a good enough rush will cover for lesser secondary play.

The character of this team is set on it's offense. That and the Cowboys' own way.

Do you make that offense the very best on carpet unit in the NFL? Even continuing to add depth in the offensive line as in the recent past...or does one stick to an averaging makes best policy? Gamble a little...or not?
