Elite cornerbacks sounded off to disagree with Rex Ryan’s take on Amari Cooper

I don't think the term should be used with respect to a person's play on the field. That's why I pointed to AB and specifically said it one considers his behavior. Say he (Amari) takes some plays off or doesn't show up on the road. But to call him a turd, I felt Rex Ryan was being sensational.
I’m used to it. Tbh only certain people ime use the term anyway and it’s been used both like you suggest and how he meant it guess that’s why I didnt see any problem with it. Seems you did and that’s cool too. He might be being sensational but that could also be his style I don’t know so can’t speak on that

When...not if...Amari misses more games or fails to produce because of his lingering plantar fasciitis in his feet...yeah...the big mouth and disrespectful Rex Ryan will be proven right. $20 mil a year for that? Nice! /sarc

Rex Ryan's reputation for scouting talent is taking a hit this week. Maybe he should just give it a rest for a while. Go back to his foot fetish. :p

For Rex Ryan to say Amari Cooper is not a good route runner is flat out ridiculous!

To say he disappears in big games has been pretty accurate. Hopefully that changes this year.

Go Cowboys!!
if he dropped a ton of passes in big games you can say something.

Otherwise WRs don't "disappear"

Boring *** argument.

Can he not run routes on the road?

Is that your argument?
No, that's not what I'm saying. He seems to have trouble getting open and/or catching the ball in away games. I don't know why that is, but it's not something I'm making up.

Compared to other top level receivers, there isn't a huge difference. This notion that he disappears is overblown in general.
All receivers have a harder time on the road.
All receivers struggle when playing injured.
All receivers have a harder time with higher level secondaries.

The conversations that were had were cherry picked to make it appear Cooper is some couch potato. Yet his teammates, coaches and opposing players all suggest a different story.

Most just look at the yards received and that paints the picture instead of factoring in injuries, location, caliber of the secondary, other WRs on the roster sharing catches.

Having two high level WRs produce over 1,000 yards in a season is a sweet problem to have.
Thank you. But that’s this fanbase. They do t look at what other teams do. I had a poster straight up tell me he doesn’t care what’s other players do....so if you don’t know what other players do how do you gauge our talent? Based on Madden?

So because he has plantar fasciitis he’s a turd?

Also, Cooper has had poor performances at home and good performances on the road during his career. Some fans are way overblowing this. They expect him to put over 100 yards per game. The best of the best don't, it's a silly waste of time.

Now we have a few calling him names and criticising his demeanor? Lmao, such a tough, thick-skinned fanbase.

This is the classic example of media trying to create news. Rex Ryan knows good and well Amari Cooper isn't a turd. But he has to say something controversial, especially during a cycle in which there is not much sports news, to get people talking. If he said this about AB, that's one thing - given AB's behavior. But to say it about Amari Cooper is a strict grab for ratings, clicks and self-generated controversy.

I think it's just Rex Ryan. Yes, he is a media member but he'd make the same stupid comment if he were coaching.

I hope Cooper uses this as motivation and plays with a chip on his shoulder this season. He has everything in his tool chest to become a legitimate #1 WR. I believe if he is coached up and motivated, we will see even a better player next season,

As one of the people who was against giving Cooper $20 million, I will say this. We will know definitively if he is what Ryan says he is by the end of 2020.

True. That's why he's on ESPN. They know he'll say something provocative. Shrug.
