Rumors persist...this could be the case...

For me personally...It would be a little rich...to spend that kind of coin...2nd or 3rd...but if he was sitting there in round 5 or 6....I could see the value having a guy that could an "X" factor in your offense.

Comments?....

That would be counterproductive to the negotiations with Dak Prescott. But of course, a person's opinion about that is going to vary depending on how you are now feeling about Dak. The Dak haters are going to love seeing a QB drafted early.
I think even for them, it would depend on the QB

Like we were stupid.

He's a 3rd round pick. We are likely talking to him in case he falls to our 4. Like the player as a leader but he's not NFL ready.

I'm all for McCarthy grabbing a developmental guy. Packers did that under Holmgren and often flipped them for good value

  1. https://***USER-BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1***/college/Oklahoma_logo.gif Jalen Hurts*, QB, Oklahoma
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 222. Arm: 31.88. Hand: 9.5.
    40 Time: 4.59. Projected Round (2020): 3-5.

4/4/20: Hurts put together a good workout at the combine, showing a quality arm, speed and athleticism. He completed 70 percent of his passes in 2019 for 3,851 yards with 32 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Some team sources see Hurts as a late-round pick while others think Hurts is a mid-rounder. ESPN and other media outlets hyped Hurts all season, but in speaking to some sources, they feel Hurts struggles to read defenses, too often after one read he looks to run, is not that accurate, and is not a dynamic runner for the NFL. They feel Hurts is tough and a winner, so they could see a team taking him in the mid-rounds if a team really likes him and wants to work with him as a backup quarterback who might be able to contribute, somewhat like Taysom Hill in New Orleans. Some feel Hurts should move to fullback for the NFL, but Hurts has refused to work out at any position but quarterback. His struggles to see the field were given further proof at the Senior Bowl.

8/15/19: Hurts had a lot of success at Alabama, helping the program to some huge wins during his career with the team, but he really struggled as a pocket passer, which led to him becoming a backup. In 2018 as a backup, Hurts completed 73 percent of his passes for 765 yards with eight touchdowns and two interceptions. In 2017, he completed 61 percent of his passes for 2,081 yards with 17 touchdowns an interception. As a freshman, Hurts completed 63 percent of his passes for 2,780 yards with 23 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
***************

PASS...especially if the Cowboys are thinking of using a costly mid-round pick on Hurts as a backup. Use that mid-round pick on a position more in need, especially since the Cowboys recently gave current backup QB, Cooper Rush, an extension.

Instead, the Cowboys should use a late round pick on this QB for backup and development:

  1. https://***USER-BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1***/college/Hawaii_logo.gif Cole McDonald, QB, Hawaii
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 215. Hand: 9.75.
    40 Time: 4.54. Projected Round (2020): 5-7.
4/4/20: McDonald had a quality combine performance that displayed his decent athleticism and an arm to compete at the next level. As a senior, he completed 64 percent of his passes for 4,135 yards with 33 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. In 2018, McDonald completed 59 percent of his passes for 3,875 yards with 36 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

I really really like Hurts and think he will be the best QB in his class.

That said I would say I would have to call MM out as being a puppet. He said we were going all in on defense. To get a QB early in the draft is a JJ move

Did you just say you think Hurts will be the best QB in the draft this season? That’s bold if so, maybe even naive.

That's true. Dak hater can only be appeased if you do things exactly like they want them done and they don't all agree on what that looks like.

Anything earlier than a 4th for a guy who doesn't make the team better is a waste. Dallas needs starters and depth everywhere, and there's superb depth, at worst, in the first 4 rounds.

Using said picks on a 3rd string QB would be an absolute waste.

Disgusted. Hurts is less accurate than Dak.

Hurts is less accurate than Dak???? are you kidding?
If we compare the college statistics, we will not see much difference

2016 240 382 62.8 2,780 7.3 23 9 71 139.1

Dak Prescott College Stats

Day 3 player. But he will be drafted on day 2. I don't see him wearing a :star:.

Honestly...I'll be shocked if he goes day 2.....I just don't see the intrigue. I've got a late 4th.. early 5th grade on him. In my mock...I've got him going to Carolina....pick 5/148.
