This is a fun exercise.

We should also do a 4th and goal from the 10. Who do you throw the ball to?

Pearson
Irvin
Dez
Novacek
Witten.
Back shoulder to Dez.

Anyone but Zeke. I cant even say that Zeke is a good short yardage back anymore. In big moments, in big games, Zeke doesn't even show up. Zeke was so bad at 3rd or 4th and short, they just starting letting Dak QB sneak it.
Zeke's signature game in his career is against a 4-4 Pittsburgh Steelers team in his rookie year. He doesn't belong in any conversation related to Cowboys best ever. His most important &1 in his career he got stuffed like a turkey.

Fun thread here.

I'll assume the ball was spotted at the 1 after a catch by
Michael Irvin, who is the unofficial all time leader for catches
downed at the 1 yard line.

Emmitt is the easy choice because he's had the most opportunities.

Dorsett would provide the most exciting play because he'd reverse course and
sprint to the corner much like he did vs. the St. Louis Cardinals in the 70s
(Yes kids, the St. Louis Cardinals)

It's nice to see Herschel mentioned. He'd score no matter how many
carries he had in this hypothetical, because "the ball ain't heavy."

If we are predicting the future, I'd love to see a jump pass from FB Dontari Poe
to backup TE, Blake Bell, for the win.

What's it going to be then, eh?

If this question were asked for next season's team, the answer is simple.

Blake Bell.

How did MB lll not make the list? The answers Emmitt but still

I was at a Sunday Night game at FedEx Field years ago
where Marion Barber closed out a victory on a rainy night.

He didn't score, but didn't have to. It seemed as though with
each carry from Barber, 10,000 Commanders fans would get up and
leave despite only being down 7 with 6 minutes to play.

In the end, the clock ran out with the Cowboys well into
Commanders territory and about 30,000 Cowboys fans taking
over the stadium.

It was glorious! (Will Ferrell voice... lol)
