If we dont draft a CB in the first, and Kristian Fulton falls to the 2nd

Would you consider trading up in the 2nd to get him?

I like Fulton. I think I'm higher on him than many others. I'm honestly trying to figure out what it is that people don't like about him.

I would definitely move up to get him. I can't see him falling to 51...I'm not even sure he'll be available early second..but he definitely could be

He seems like he is being slotted in that 25-40 range. Who's the 3rd CB off the board, and how high does that player. Could be him in the 20's. But he could get pushed down.

After Cro's breakdown, I feel better about him than Henderson

Interesting. Ive heard about Cros breakdown. But I haven't checked it out.

I watched every snap of Fulton vs Clemson in the NCG and vs Bama...both tapes are good..he wasn't perfect vs Clemson...had a pretty weak tackle attempt near the goal line where Higgins ran him over to score..he also had a pretty bad PI penalty..clemson targeted him a ton..but in the pass game, he didn't give up much at all..they tried to pick on him all night..Bama on the other hand, didn't go after him much at all..I'm not an expert, but I'm not sure what it is that people don't like about him..I like him a lot..he's probably worth 17 to be honest..especially if the board is wiped out..but for some reason, most don't like him that much..so im probably wrong

My best guess is the off field concerns and poor tackling.

Yeah, I would. Basically, if we draft a DE, DT, WR in the first, our only chance of getting a starting caliber CB is in the second. The position will be picked clean by round 3. Same for DE/EDGE. There will very likely be no good starting pass rushers by the end of the second.

To me, if we want two good starters out of this draft at DE and CB, we'll need to trade up from second pick to get the position we didn't get in round 1. However, if the team is OK with drafting a pass rush specialist, rather than a starter, we could easily stay put and pick BPA

Upgrade DL and safety and we have enough at CB

Having said this, we will likely take CB in Rd 1 or 2

I'd happily give up a future 3rd for either Fulton or Diggs. That probably gets us to pick 41 and then we hopefully have the two compo picks for Byron Jones & Robert Quinn to mitigate the loss of that 3rd next year.

Might have to be this years first. I think the move up for Lawrence was a similar jump to what you are proposing

Assuming you meant this year's 3rd you're probably right.

I'd push hard to get it done with future picks though. I feel like every draft pick this year is needed badly because of all the free-agent exits.

His movements are awkward.

Can he play without getting his hands on WRs?

His speed looks average and his short area quickness also looks average.

He would have been a good fit in the Kris Richard style but not many if any teams are running that true Legion of Boom style now.

Yes, 3rd. My mistake

1 Okudah
2 Henderson
3 Johnson
4 Gladney
5 Diggs
6 Terrell

Overview
Press-man cornerback whose 40 percent rate of completion as an LSU Tiger may not tell the entire story as an NFL prospect. Fulton has good size and is usually searching to make plays on the football. He plays with decent eye balance in off-coverage but can be a tad late with response time. Once he gets behind he tends to stay behind against multi-breaking routes and his long speed and recovery burst are below average. Fulton showed improvement throughout the year, but his confidence has been an issue at times. When the pros and cons are balanced, he appears to be a good backup with a chance to work up the ladder.

Weaknesses
  • Suspended all of 2017 for falsifying specimen for drug test
  • Inconsistent staying in route phase from press
  • Plus route-runners can shake and separate
  • Confidence has been flighty at times
  • Glitchy hips in transitions for in-breaking routes
  • Struggles to find early recovery burst
  • Long speed could be a concern on next level
  • Loses balance and positioning downfield
  • Tardy responses to quarterback's clues in off coverage
  • Below-average toughness/technique as tackler

Id do this but I don’t think I’d trade any of this years picks.

To get someone like Fulton / Terrell / Johnson we might have to consider moving up in the 2nd.

Not a big fan. I’d take him at 51 but I wouldn’t trade up for him.

Letting Byron walk b/c he doesn't create turnovers, and then trading up to draft Kristian "Two Career INTs" Fulton would be...poor logic.

Yes, absolutely. Assuming they take DL or WR in the first, then taking a CB in the 2nd is a priority. What are you giving up to move up though? A 2nd and 5th?
