I think the team is getting ready to make a big change at QB.

I think they have gone as far as they want to risk the team with Dak.

Aaron Roger's or Drew Brees he is not.

Quietly Dallas is looking at their options I believe.

They leaked that video clip of Jones interviewing a top QB in the draft the other day.

Clearly this is a message to Dak and his agent. Come to reasonable terms..

Or they will draft a QB high and withdraw the Tag on Dak and use his money elsewhere.

I do not think they are bluffing. Jerrah and team are going to get back control of the team for McCarthy going forward.

I think the team is willing to dance with Dak.

But I do not think they are willing to follow his lead.

McCarthy is now in charge. Not Garrett. Garrett was a pushover. McCarthy is a rock.

So while alot of us want to play draft experts and debate DBs and DL as our top picks..

QB maybe the real position needing a decision.

BTW-I am not looking for a fist fight here over Dak. Just observations from you guys about the team thinking.

That is all.

You are reading it wrong. Just because another team is willing to give two first round picks for Dak does not mean that Dallas values him like that. Now, I personally think Dallas does value him higher than that so unless negotiations completely break down, Dak will be getting a long term contract. IF things go bad, maybe we let him go and try to find a replacement in the draft.
If another team valued Dak at 2 1st rounders and the Cowboys didn't.....that would say a lot about their scouting department and their talent evaluators. Probably the same bunch that valued Taco Charlton over TJ Watt too.

What I love about these threads is that they always contain the "this is not like any other Dak threads" but then proceed to give us the same exact Dak thread 100's others have lol.
With this particular poster. I know what to expect before I even start reading it. Not like he has much of an agenda. I don’t mind he doesn’t like Prescott but it’s for stupid reasons

I think they are looking at QB because they will ultimately give DAK a 4 year deal and no looking to extend him after that. I think France and Dak have really pissed the Jones' off.

I’m more pissed about Elliot getting paid

I don’t love Prescott. But I don’t love anybody else that’s available either. I truly believe you can’t judge any talent on this team because of Jason Garrett. Mike McCarthy will have a scheme and players that fit it. I think the kid will be a winner

Dak is the one who wants a 4 year deal. Cowboys want al longer term deal.
I think Prescott has a little bit of integrity. I could be wrong. I might only wanna play for four more years take the money enjoy life why would I want to beat my body up and then have all that money and not enjoy it. Just a different outlook

I honestly think the Cowboys aren't nearly as concerned with signing Dak as people on this site are lol. When I heard the only difference was the years on the deal and that the Cowboys were the ones who wanted more years? That told me all I needed to know.

I don't think Dallas is going chunk another 38+ millions to DAK four years later regardless if the CAP increases or not. I think that the new coaching staff understands that it is better to have your future franchise QB waiting than having to wait until then to find one.

Our end of the season records shows that we typically won't be in the TOP 3 to grab one, unless Cooper Rush is your starting QB. If a viable options falls to you in the draft this year or next year, you take that option. That's what I assume is going on with his coaching staff. It make perfect sense to me.

Well that's my stance. I'm a Dak fan. But if everyone complains about Garrett and how bad of a coach he is.....I don't know how you can accurately judge talent on this team if it wasn't getting proper coaching. And it wasn't. People can say "coaching" is used a excuse but its not. The teams that win consistently in this league are coached by good coaches. The Bill O'Brien's and Jason Garrett's of the world are not.

How many QBs have been traded for two 1st round picks? How many players in general? How did that work out for the team that gave up those picks?

Off the top of my head, Jay Cutler is the only QB(Bears gave up 2 1sts), but there could be others.

In general, Dallas acquired Joey Galloway for two 1sts. That didn't work out. The Bears got Khalil Mack for a pair of 1st round picks.

Dallas needs to talk to ALL players, it's due diligence.

Prescott is not going anywhere this year. Next year maybe different.

If Dak is the right quarterback you better believe they will give him all the money he wants even if its 40+ million. Dak and his team knows that too.

Dak is getting paid 27 million this year under the tag since a few top QBs renegoiated their deals. That's a fair price since it is the average of the top 5 paid QBs. For a long term deal he should be getting top ten money, IMHO, not Wilson money.

We can win with Dak, but need a team around him. Had to build a team around him if he's paid the highest QB salary in the NFL. I think Dak made a big mistake when he chose his agent.

Below is a snippet from the linked article.

https://thelandryhat.com/2020/04/06/dallas-cowboys-dak-prescott-not-franchise-quarterback/2/

How a quarterback wins might be just as important as how many wins the quarterback has. During the 2019 season, Prescott feasted on inferior teams and struggled against stronger competition.

Against teams with winning records, Prescott had two wins in eight games. Against teams with 0.500 or worse records, Prescott had six wins in eight games.

So you would hope your franchise quarterback has at least a 0.500 record against teams with winning records. For his career, Prescott has a 0.433 winning percentage.

Brady, Lamar Jackson, and Jimmy Garoppolo have winning percentages higher than 0.680 against teams with winning records since Prescott entered the NFL. Marcus Mariota, Ben Roethlisberger and Alex Smith are the only other quarterbacks from the fourteen franchises with records of 0.500 or better against winning teams.

Drew Brees, Russell Wilson, Jared Goff, and Patrick Mahomes, while under 0.500, have better records than Prescott. Prescott sits in the eleventh place for winning percentage against winning teams.

Prescott’s record against teams with 0.500 records or worse is relatively better. His 0.794 winning percentage places him ninth on the list, two slots higher than his record against winning teams.

His overall winning percentage is good for tenth in the past four years. This paints a much different picture when considering Prescott’s winning effectiveness. He has won a lot of games but he barely wins games at a rate to place in the top ten.
