I think the team is getting ready to make a big change at QB.

I think they have gone as far as they want to risk the team with Dak.

Aaron Roger's or Drew Brees he is not.

Quietly Dallas is looking at their options I believe.

They leaked that video clip of Jones interviewing a top QB in the draft the other day.

Clearly this is a message to Dak and his agent. Come to reasonable terms..

Or they will draft a QB high and withdraw the Tag on Dak and use his money elsewhere.

I do not think they are bluffing. Jerrah and team are going to get back control of the team for McCarthy going forward.

I think the team is willing to dance with Dak.

But I do not think they are willing to follow his lead.

McCarthy is now in charge. Not Garrett. Garrett was a pushover. McCarthy is a rock.

So while alot of us want to play draft experts and debate DBs and DL as our top picks..

QB maybe the real position needing a decision.

BTW-I am not looking for a fist fight here over Dak. Just observations from you guys about the team thinking.

That is all.

My oh my Redball, you really are looking to cause division aren't you? Seriously man, you're a smart guy but not that SMART.. You're about the only person in the nation making a claim as bold as the cowboys moving on from Prescott... Is it that you are redballdamus, or just a firestarter? I think it's the latter....

Is it okay if Dak wins a last game of the season against an Eagle team with Wal Mart players before he wins the Super Bowl ?

Yes. You have a problem with Dak’s record in regular season games now? Or are we just cherry picking one game where he played poorly while toughing out a shoulder injury when we all knew what the situation was?

Oh my bro.

Since when did being a Cowboy fan require you only discuss hard news only?

I am discussing killing time in a non-existent season.

You better loosen up and get over it.

This is going to be going on for awhile.

Try YouTube, no offense but unless I miss my guess, you are trying to offend me.

So stop.

Just play along or make your own thread so I can haunt your thread.

Boo.

You may be on to something. No one would dare think 10 years ago, or perhaps 5, that a team would move on from established players.

But then strange things happened. Teams did move on. And not always due to diminishing talent. Often it was due to contract negotiations or to avoid the money pit called dead money.

Along comes Mahomes, Jackson, Murray, Mayfield, the kid last year in Jacksonville, (thinking) Minshew and teams begin to see QBs are better prepared for the pro game than anytime in the past. Which leads more teams to stand by while the starter signs elsewhere hoping to hit on the next big thing at QB.

On the financial side it allows the team to build around the young QB.

Given the possible upside and the chance to put together a solid defense, it seems to be a good strategy.

Dak is getting paid 27 million this year under the tag since a few top QBs renegoiated their deals. That's a fair price since it is the average of the top 5 paid QBs. For a long term deal he should be getting top ten money, IMHO, not Wilson money.

We can win with Dak, but need a team around him. Had to build a team around him if he's paid the highest QB salary in the NFL. I think Dak made a big mistake when he chose his agent.

Below is a snippet from the linked article.

https://thelandryhat.com/2020/04/06/dallas-cowboys-dak-prescott-not-franchise-quarterback/2/

How a quarterback wins might be just as important as how many wins the quarterback has. During the 2019 season, Prescott feasted on inferior teams and struggled against stronger competition.

Against teams with winning records, Prescott had two wins in eight games. Against teams with 0.500 or worse records, Prescott had six wins in eight games.

So you would hope your franchise quarterback has at least a 0.500 record against teams with winning records. For his career, Prescott has a 0.433 winning percentage.

Brady, Lamar Jackson, and Jimmy Garoppolo have winning percentages higher than 0.680 against teams with winning records since Prescott entered the NFL. Marcus Mariota, Ben Roethlisberger and Alex Smith are the only other quarterbacks from the fourteen franchises with records of 0.500 or better against winning teams.

Drew Brees, Russell Wilson, Jared Goff, and Patrick Mahomes, while under 0.500, have better records than Prescott. Prescott sits in the eleventh place for winning percentage against winning teams.

Prescott’s record against teams with 0.500 records or worse is relatively better. His 0.794 winning percentage places him ninth on the list, two slots higher than his record against winning teams.

His overall winning percentage is good for tenth in the past four years. This paints a much different picture when considering Prescott’s winning effectiveness. He has won a lot of games but he barely wins games at a rate to place in the top ten.
Good for 10th. Imagine if we didn’t have Jason Garrett

Dak is the one who wants a 4 year deal. Cowboys want al longer term deal.

Longer term in the sense that they "pay" Dak higher salaries in the latter years of the deal but of course, unless Dak lights up the league, he will never see that money because they would cut him before it gets to that point .

Where have you been? That's the only point of a longer term deal. teams have been doing this for a while now.

Don't be obtuse. Anyone of those seven might do it given the option.
I guess we've came to the you're obtuse, stupid, etc because you don't agree with the other posters post part of the discussion. None of them would do it based on history but you believe what you want sir

The fact you called Jalen hurts a top QB is laughable on its own

And if Dak is worth 2 1sts round picks, why in the heck would you trade him. That tells me if he is worth that much, then he is worth taking a team to the SB.
Just makes no sense at all.

Exactly. There isn't anyone with a brain out there that would give 2 first for this greedy *** QB.

What does McCarthy being a “rock” have to with anything.
He's not involved in the negotiation

They should have been sending this message to Dak starting from last year. "We're going to do our due diligence to evaluate and pursue all options". Instead, it was all "Dak will be our QB", telling Dak to always ask for more because there was no possible downside to it.

I like Dak. I hate their negotiations with Zeke and now Dak.

Hmmm...... I don't think there are many QB's in the NFL who are as good as Dak. The real question is team chemistry in an era of salary cap. Jerry has been failing at that.

I honestly think the Cowboys aren't nearly as concerned with signing Dak as people on this site are lol. When I heard the only difference was the years on the deal and that the Cowboys were the ones who wanted more years? That told me all I needed to know.

Really.............and what did that tell you?

I do think the front office is tired of the games by dak’s crew.

I think they will put some insurance in place.

I will choose what not to read, but I appreciate the open commentary.
