HBD to a great Cowboy legend.

I met TD in a hospital about 15 years ago. My wife and I had gone there to see my niece who was expecting her first child. TD was in the same waiting room area waiting for the birth of a grandchild if my memory is correct.

Two things I remember about that:
  • TD was smaller than I expected. He looked to be in great shape but was not very big.
  • He was very nice and seemed unaffected by fame. Most people didn’t even recognize him.

I remember the day the Cowboys drafted him. I was in shock when I heard the Cowboys had pulled a trade with Seahawks and took Tony D. Never in my wildest dream did I think this was going to happen. 1st person I called was my dad who is also hardcore Cowboy fan it was a complete shocker

Oh for the days when we would snooker other teams.
I think we got Randy Martin that way too.

TD, one of my favorite all time Cowboys. HBD!

He could have had a lot more yards if Landry would have ran him more. However, he could have got beat up sooner and not have had the years he had to get those yards.

Landry knew what he was doing.
I remember reading or hearing the Steelers say that if the Cowboys would have stayed with the running game and Dorsett, they would have beaten the Steelers.

One of the best trades in NFL history made with Seattle- we gave them a first and second round pick (we had an extra 1st round pick to give that year because of the Clint Langley trade in ‘75 gave us an extra #1) We got a HOF running back who became a top 5 all time rusher. A trade steal.

One of my fondest memories as a kid was watching that 99 yard run....I was only a kid but you would've thought I won a free supply of candy for a year as my dad said.

Not old enough to remember too much about it, but Happy Birthday Mr. Dorsett.

Same here! I remember watching Dorsett at the U of Pitt. Never in my wildest dreams did I think the Cowboys would make that trade either. My first reaction was, WAIT WE JUST TRADED AWAY WHAT??? Lol.

Pre-ESPN or cable or internet and living out of state was brutal. I had to call the local paper and ask for the sports department to find out who the Cowboys drafted.

Yeah that year the 2 top RB where Tony and Ricky Bell. I remember watching both RB in college, for Bell his life would be cut short because of a disease he contracted.
Tampa Bay drafted Bell 1st overall then Dallas would pull a trade with the seahawks to get TD.
