Unless he wins a super bowl he is going to be the guy that signed Aldon Smith. I can't wait till the wednesday press conference somewhere in the middle of the season after smith gets drunk, wrecks his car and calls in a bomb threat to DFW. IN GB McCarthy would get mad and walk away. Can't do that here. You sneeze and it is a national discussion.

Now if he brings Dez back also he is going to have the perfect trifecta and they haven't even had a practice yet. So many people in this city and around the league hate Dez and no doubt he will say something innocent that will turn into a big story.

Then there is the draft. McCarthy has really gone all out in creating issues for himself and again before they have even had a practice.

If Dez were coming back as WR1 or even WR2, I don't want him back. As WR3 with pedigree? Yes please. I don't trust any of our other WRs outside of Coop and Gallup.

Chido is not CB1. Neither is Jourdan. Speculation: that tells me that unless Ruggs, Jeudy or Lamb falls, the Cowboys are gonna draft a CB1 (Henderson? Fulton?) and not a WR with #17.

Bring back Dez and draft BPA.

Yeah exactly. Tough to imagine he would just change his stripes that easily.

If we ever see that he is given a contract with statistical based incentives then all bets are off.

Not worth the headache. The OP cites a not so great WR depth chart as of now. Theres a draft coming up, which just happens to be as deep at that position as ever. Maybe we see what happens.

I've said nothing of the sort. I've actually said the opposite here many times and believe guys like randy gregory deserve to play in the league.

Violent Criminals on the other hand do not deserve to play in the nfl and the Cowboys who keep failing with all these players should be running in the other direction. The cowboys have never helped any of these guys and none of them have ever helped Dallas win anything.

and now The new head coach is tied to a guy who has committed domestic violence, has repeated DUI's and has called in a bomb threat to a major airport. Who knows what else since this is only what he was caught doing.

So spare me your martyrdom. Congrats on getting clean. Don't confuse fact and fiction.

he shouldn't have been. He also should have been used differently after his skills changed in 2015. He played through injury for the good of the team and shouldn't have been dumped the way he was. Just like many guys who they have kicked out of here.

He was awesome to watch in the stadium.

I don't see anything wrong with bringing him back to compete for a spot. He may get a dose of reality from our young receivers and DBs or prove the haters wrong. Win/Win in my book. Honestly, I will always root for him. Bring him back and let him earn his spot. He may cherish the opportunity more this time around.

Pedigree of no speed, no route running, and complains when not getting the ball. No thanks. At least the young guys have speed and can run more than 1 route.

His physical skills and pay were at the opposite end of the spectrum. When that happens, players get released. That's just the way it works. Dez wasn't the first nor will he be the last player it happens to.

Hard to see how his skills (and I use the word lightly) could have allowed him to be used any differently. His physical condition robbed him of the talent level needed to play in the NFL. He couldn't overcome that due his limited knowledge of the offense and inability to learn the route tree.

The bottom line is the Cowboys had no choice but to release him. It wasn't anything personal it was a business decision. Was it easy or did the Cowboys enjoy doing that? No. But it was still the right decision to make.

Keep seeing people say Dez was this selfish diva that complained when he didn’t get the ball... here’s a quote from Romo after the Megatron game in 2013.

“Yeah I don’t think he’s ever, I mean I don’t know what, I mean I’m sure you’re referencing him getting emotional which is, happens every game, he’s emotional in general. But he’s a competitive guy, he’s never complained to me about getting the ball. You know (chuckle) he knows that the ball is going to where it’s supposed to…he knows that. So I think, more than anything, it’s about him wanting the team. When you guys see emotions from Dez it’s more about being ‘rah-rah’…a me guy, that’s not who Dez is.”

Not necessarily disagreeing with you, but you are looking at it as if Dez thinks he is still WR1. If he's healthy, Dez can do damage vs CB3 or a Safety or LB. Teams are gonna role their coverages to stop Coop, Gallup and (probably) even Blake Jarwin, moreso than Dez.

Dez would be fine because he knows he's not "the man" in this offense no more. That's Coop. I believe if he's coming back he'll get a similar deal to Haha. 1-year deal. No guaranteed money. Incentive laiden. If he doesn't conform, he's outta here. Again.

Please note: I wasn't a big fan of Prime Dez. So if he doesn't come, I'm good with that. Looking at our depth chart, it makes sense to at least kick the tires. As we saw on those vids, the Cowboys are doing just that with Dak himself working out with him.
