Don't see the point in drafting a WR so high in such a deep WR draft. Cooper and Gallup are cemented. Hopefully this staff can get something out of the potential Devin Smith flashed. I'd much rather use the top pick ok on a defender and draft Lynn Bowden in the 3rd or 4th round. I'm sure McCarthy loves him since he is a Randall Cobb clone.

  • 1. Jerry Jeudy, Alabama (JR, 6'1", 193 pounds) Jeudy is a polished route-runner that sets up opposing cornerbacks well and has tremendous
  • 2. CeeDee Lamb, Oklahoma (JR, 6'2", 198 pounds) Like Jeudy, Lamb profiles as a No. 1 receiver at the next level and is a top-10 overall talent
  • 3. Henry Ruggs III, Alabama (JR, 5'11", 188 pounds) As expected, Ruggs ran the fastest 40-yard dash (4.27) at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine to go
  • Justin Jefferson, LSU (JR, 6'1", 202 pounds) One of the biggest winners at the NFL Scouting Combine, Jefferson ran a faster-than-expected 40 ...
Any of those receivers would make the Dallas receivers able to challenge any defense, on equal or better footing.

Jeudy is a polished route-runner that sets up opposing cornerbacks well and has tremendous acceleration out of his breaks. Both quick and fast, the former Biletnikoff award recipient excels after the catch with his stop-start ability and elusiveness. Jeudy has impressive body control and natural hands, but he has had some concentration drops. The alpha in a receiving corps loaded with four potential first-rounders (counting Devonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle next year), Jeudy is a high-floor receiver that should emerge as his future team's No. 1 receiver early in his career.

Like Jeudy, Lamb profiles as a No. 1 receiver at the next level and is a top-10 overall talent. Lamb ended 2019 with 62 catches for 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns (21.4 Y/R) and scored 26 touchdowns in 27 games the past two seasons. Experienced lining up both inside and outside, Lamb has exceptional ball skills with a special ability to contort his body and adjust to the ball in the air. While he doesn't have elite speed (he's fast enough, though), Lamb is dangerous after the catch with his vision in the open field and ability to make would-be tacklers miss.

As expected, Ruggs ran the fastest 40-yard dash (4.27) at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine to go along with explosive jumps. Given his rare acceleration and run-after-catch ability, Ruggs is a threat to take any slant to the house. Through his three seasons at Alabama, Ruggs averaged 17.91 yards and scored on one-quarter of his 100 career touches. While speed is his most deadly weapon, he has improved as a route-runner and adjusts well to the football.

If CeeDee drops to us I don’t think we can pass on him. He’s got great potential and really opens up our offense and what we can do with Cooper down the road.

For the life of me I hope they don’t force a pick just because of a position need like we did with Taco and Hill the past 2 years.

Agreed, McCarthy is an offensive guy and I rather give him a couple more weapons to use. Now if a top tier defensive prospect drops to 17 that’s fine. But we shouldn’t settle for our 2/3rd defensive option if a top offensive weapon is still available for us.

My feelings are that there are about 10 realistic players that will be within reach of Dallas, worth their pick or trade down and taking.

I think Jefferson will get a hard look. Fills the slot need well and there is this

Mosher makes some of the dumbest comments.

Ruggs played on the same team as Jerry Jeudy...

TO only had 35 catches as a rookie. They should have cut him. I'm sure it had nothing to do with Jerry Rice having 153 targets.

He does get on a subject and ride it and you are right but it’s an interesting stat for two top guys. I like both

Because Ruggs shared snaps with Jerry Jeudy, DeVonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle - all of whom are projected as first-round picks. And Tua, being the consummate quarterback that he is, spreads the ball around. He doesn't have just one receiver he throws to.

2014 was his last 1000 yard season. Since then he was ....401, 797, 838, and an Achilles injury. Hasn’t played in a game in 2 years. As much as I’d love to see him come back as a situational guy I doubt it happens.

Agree! As I said above I like both guys talent wise. Just thought that tweet was interesting from the aspect of their both top tier

Just take the best available player and be done with it.

I don’t understand the landry hat.

their articles seem pretty random and out there.

this one, for instance, is all about the #1 WR in the draft sliding past three teams with huge WR needs and getting to 17

I have a few more article suggestions for them

Could the Dallas Cowboys land the next Troy Aikman in the draft? Joe Burrow slides to 17

Could the Dallas Cowboys land the next Deion Sanders in the draft? Jeff Okudah slides to 17

Could the Dallas Cowboys land the next Demarcus Ware in the draft? Chase Young slides to 17

Could the Dallas Cowboys land the next Dez Bryant in the draft?
https://thelandryhat.com/2020/04/09/dallas-cowboys-land-next-dez-bryant-draft/

...And it’s during the draft where America’s Team might find themselves a newer version of Dez. Here’s who Gil Brandt, former Cowboys executive, current senior analyst for NFL Media, and Hall of Famer recently compared to Bryant in the upcoming draft class.

“[CeeDee] Lamb was a beast with the ball in his hands, collecting 376 yards after contact (third-most in FBS) and 683 yards after the catch and forcing 26 missed tackles (second-most among receivers in FBS) … To me, Lamb is a Dez Bryant lookalike — though Bryant had a bigger upper body and was a stronger guy, they have similar mannerisms on the field.”

...While there’s an argument to be made that there’s a big enough need on the Dallas Cowboys’ current wide receiver depth chart for both Dez Bryant and CeeDee Lamb, either actually being on the roster come September could be a pipe dream.

Although Jeff Cavanaugh of 105.3 The Fan believes Bryant could work as the team’s fourth wide receiver in addition to drafting a rookie wideout in the upcoming draft, it’s unclear whether the team’s new coaching staff feels the same way. And considering the other needs along their roster, the Cowboys using their first-round selection on Lamb (who likely doesn’t fall that far anyway) could be nothing more than wishful thinking as well.

I hope we dont. Dont want another Dez.
