Because big plays matter.

First downs speak to usage. Big plays speak to ability.

In 621 touches (carries + catches) Barkley has 35 plays of 20+ yards and 14 plays of 40+ yards.

In 1,358 touches Zeke hasAmari is better than Michael Thomas currently then?

because he’s a much bigger threat to score from 30+ yards out. 16/33 TDS came from that distance compared to 2/32 for Thomas.

In 1,358 touches Zeke has just 49 plays of 20+ yards a paltry 6 plays of 40+ yards.

How about reliability with the ball? Can we look at fumbling?

I’m guessing those don’t matter either?

Zeke never gets hurt, Barkley does. Zeke is the better overall RB but the media likes to hype up Barkley as the next big thing yet he has no rushing titles & zeke would’ve easily had 3 if he wasn’t “Goodelled” his sophomore season.

saquon had more total yards and tds in 2018 and had a higher ypc. I wouldn’t rest my hat on the rushing title

In 2018, saquon had more yards after the catch than total yards receiving.

But they counted towards his total yards.

Zeke averages more scrimmage yards per game over double the sample size and wasn’t force fed passes behind the line his first few seasons a la Barkley.

I would rather have Zeke all day long as I prefer that type of running back. Rather have a running back who beats down the opponent and picks up 1-2 yards after being hit at the line then the big flashy plays.

However zeke plays behind one of the best OL in football. Barkley not so much. I honestly think with Barkley's talents he may be equal if not superior to Zeke behind this line. The giants are a mess it's really hard to compare them on equal terms

Crack? Bro I make 6 figures a year and own a $850k house, I’m far from a crack head. Zeke is a better blocker, receiver, and they might be equal (at best) when it comes to running. You can drink the Barkley Kool-aid but when you’re the only weapon in your teams offense - I would expect huge numbers (see Christian McCaffrey). Barkley just isn’t what people think he is, but you’re entitled to your opinion.

boathouse too?

We want to throw “highlights” of other backs around here. Last year was tough but LadanianT said it best, (and this is from what I remember in his interview) coming in from a holdout, Is tough because it takes weeks to get into “football shape.” Without the biases of last season and just watching this video as a football fan, the guy is a monster and I believe is getting closer and an improved Zeke we want.

So he didn't get 2 4th and 1's in a whole season? WOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW.
I’m sure there’s others but when the stage was the brightest he failed. He demanded to be paid as the best and he came up short big time. Big players make big plays in big games, zeke failed. You don’t pay a RB who sits out with two years left as the highest paid RB to fail in those situations, it’s situations like that they should get paid to succeed. So yeah...it’s a big deal.

Barry never had the best offensive line but that didn't stop him. Barkley is the next Barry right?

You just made a all or nothing statement lol. You said nothing about "sharing blame" aside from Garrett and Dak but ok.
Probably, Barkley has been compared to Barry many times.

The thing about Zeke is ... he still runs behind his pads. He will thump you and when you try to brace for that thump, he will hurdle you and make you look like a chump. There just is no winning with Zeke. I wish he wasn't so expensive but there is no denying he is still top 1-2 running backs in the league and to be honest I can't tell you who I would take over him.

He’s a great, all-around player. If he were a boxer, he’d be the guy you absolutely hated to fight because he hits hard, avoids contact, and then can still take a punch. And he’s probably the best pass protector at his position in the league.

Wait so why is being force fed rush attempts okay, and being force fed passes a knock?

Barkley has way less touches per game, yet is right there in scrimmage yards. If we want to claim being force fed, that honor belongs to Zeke.

Barkley is a more dynamic runner. Receiving wise, they're about equal. Blocking is Zeke hands down. Picking up a tough yard, Zeke is better. Kinda reminds me of the Smith/Sanders debate. The other guys pasture always looks greener.

Its similar. But Barkley isn’t as spectacular but is a more complete back than Sanders was. He’s a really good all around player. And while Zeke’s the better pass protector, Barkley’s not actually all that far behind. I like him over Zeke because of the explosion he gives you in the passing game. He has more of the splash plays that win games for my money. Zeke’s big plays tend to be big chunks of yardage on drives that break the defense down, but he doesn’t Seem like that same threat to score from anywhere like he did his first two seasons.

But it’s really close with these two guys. Both are great players.

Not quite sure what point you’re making with the yards after catch?

I haven't read through this entire thread so this might have been noted previously. But as someone that has played a lot of football I know what Collins was saying. Whether you believe him or not is up to you. But I don't think it's sour grapes. It may be a result of sour grapes that he said it in the first place, but he's not lying.

Sometimes the truth comes out when punch comes to shove. A truth that wouldn't normally be shared out of mutual respect.

No matter what you think of Barkley, and I think he's an amazing talent. He has plenty of power but he chooses to run more elusive than Zeke. Like Collins said, Zeke runs behind his pads. When Zeke breaks into the open he's not dancing around. He'll go from point A to B if it's there. If not you'll be getting a taste of his pads with his full weight behind it. I'd much rather tackle someone who's first instinct is to avoid me.

No he clearly isn’t - Zeke is a better blocker and receiver out of the backfield and Barkley is about equal when it comes to running the ball (even though Zeke should have 3 rushing titles like I stated in my original post). People buy into this Barkley hype but the kid hasn’t even lived up to the media’s hype in my opinion.

Your out of your mind. Barkley blows him away in pass catching.

I take Barkley 10 out of 10 times. He has 100% lived up to the hype.

Do you take strength of offense and Oline into consideration as you should?

When the stage was big and brightest he failed like the rest of this team did. This team didn't fail because of him.

What are you talking about? I said they had the same knock on Emmitt about who he played with. Why can't Zeke be mentioned with Emmitt?

I re read what you said and i guess youre not comparing the 2 backs just the situation so my bad.

I dont believe hes near the back Emmitt was (Yet) Emmitt also displayed a certain leadership i haven't seen in Zeke thus far. In terms of him being the best short yardage back Id have to do research but its not that important to me but Henry is pretty darn good.

Im sorry i know Zeke is heralded as this great all purpose back by some here. 3 downs and all that jazz never comes off the field and I do like him he does some good things but there are probably 3 backs id rather have and i do not consider him worth the 4th overall pick to this day . I dont think they should have paid him what they did but I dont think Dlaw and Dak either in that regard will be worth it but its the nature of the business.

And just like his rushing titles, they would have never happened without the O line and the rest of the team. He can’t get credit for doing things by himself when it’s only a positive which is why I’ve been saying all along that Zeke wouldn’t have those titles behind most O lines but his fan boys refuse to accept that. It’s ALWAYS alllllllll Zeke when he has a good game but when he has a bad game it’s coaching, the O line, the grass was too tall or the sky was blue...anything but Zeke’s fault.
