Such a game plan to trade down in the hopes of drafting their center of the future in Cesar Ruiz is seemingly a workable plan. The Cowboys' center spot is a valuable spoke in the wheel of making the OL another effective unit within their offensive setup. Let's see how that plan goes, assuming it truly is one. Let's bear in mind that we could obtain extra draft pick(s) for such a deal if it happens. I can see where it might work, if handled correctly.

Why do you use so many extra words???!!?

Not true. Saw today I think Clarence Hill, they videoconferenced with him.
I posted that BEFORE the news today from Jane Slater that he indeed has interviewed.

so apologies to peter king who had this one right.

I agree! I'm firmly in the camp of going Defense heavy to a fault. Look at the teams that end up winning championships, the most important thing is defense and our is severely lacking.
As far as I'm concerned if our offense takes another jump even with looney will be more than good. Lets also remind ourselves that Prescott may take another jump up after another off season.
I know we talk about getting the best player on the board, and I think that holds true for first round, but after that I say go ultra heavy on Dt's and CB's... Bottom line is it's time to go heavy on defense for a change and let the chips fall where they may.
Nice horn you are blowing there.

Only issue I have is we do not seem to know defense very well and we hope with the new coaches that changes.

But I think maybe you split up your 1st two picks, one defense one offense.

We just signed 2 DL guys. Unless we see a top 10 talent at 17, then just take the BPA. We have multiple needs on offense..center, TE, WR, guard, etc.

We can not fix it all and other teams have agendas, too.

Our biggest thing going is stealth. Not tipping our hand is going to help tons.

The drop off from Fred ears to looney does not warrant the need to use a 1st on a center. Add in that McGovern could take over after next year and it really seems silly with bigger needs all over the defense.

You can trade up early into the second and scoop him. Id much rather that

That maker less than zero sense. They could trade down picking up a pick, possibly a high 2nd round pick to go with a first round pick or USE multiple picks to get the same player. Or the Cowboys can just stick to the defensive side of the ball and we can forget about another "insiders" speculation.

If they select a center in the first round. I am going to vomit.

Strong words for what would be a strong pick. Not at 17 perhaps, but if they gained draft capital by moving back and grabbed Ruiz later - that would be a very solid get. Surprised that so many seem to disagree with that.

Yes, good points! There is a real chance though with new coaches and a few nice pieces this defense is transformed. The 49ers did this in one off season between 18 and 19.
I think they go heavy on defense because that is where there are the most questions, a numbers game if you will gives you a better shot at shoring things up. think about it for a second, this is opposite of the strategy that we've had the past and probably the reason why we need to go that way.

To get my ideas across clearly and concisely. Why do you ask such simple questions?

lol. I think you misunderstand the meaning of concise. Which was the entire point of the question. You type like foghorn leghorn

They said Fredrick was drafted too high as well.

So now because of Frederick we give the team a pass to overdraft centers?

I hate this type of logic.

It’s not smart to overdraft centers because Travis Frederick turned out good.

Maybe it wasn't an "overdraft" at all.........just better scouting. I hate when people just roll with the pundits and not realize that they could just POSSIBLY be wrong.
