So they should pay him enough to ensure that he will still be highest paid even after the next wave of signings?

Not sure how they would swing that
That is not even remotely what I said. He outperformed his rookie deal. He is at worst on par with Wentz and Goff, yet the team offered 20 million less guaranteed and wanted it over 7 years. Dak has agreed to the per year, which is not highest paid, it is the length that is an issue because top 5 now will be outside the top 10 in 2 years.

They need to get the deal done as least $$ possible before the draft so they can trade him

Are we back to the "Dak is crap, so the Cowboys should trade the obvious crap man for a huge payday" again?

The team just needs to come off of it already with the demand of years.
They aren’t going to budge on the length. He wants to gamble and attempt to cash in again. I would just like to know is it 2,3, or 4 years that Dak wants. If it’s shorter than 4 years then I understand JJ side of it. If Dak wants 3 years and 105 million or 2 years 70 million then it’s not kool. But i do hope that Dak is as good as he thinks he is.

I've repeatedly heard that he wants 4 years and they want more.

Look, if he wants the shorter term, give it to him.

If he and the team fail to win? You get out of it that much sooner, cheaper, and easier.

If he does win? Why would anyone have any issue with paying for a proven winner?

None required. But thanks.

No, it's completely relevant, however unpleasant.

And if they drafted the guys they mistakenly ranked way ahead of him, they would be screwed. That's the other side to that coin you don't want to have to acknowledge.

Look into the actual stats and get back to me.

Goff's team reached that Super Bowl. The overall team. If you want to claim that he carried them there, why are all of his stats inferior to Prescott's? And how did Goff do in that Super Bowl?

Sorry, it's just another inconvenient truth that you would like to ignore, while thinking Prescott owes everything to the Cowboys.

You fail.

You can cover your own eyes and practice willful ignorance, just do it alone.
Did he actually say there’s a chance Dak would have went undrafted? What?

0 percent chance of that happening. The nfl isnt set up for sign and trade deals. The cap hit would be too overwhelming, and you instantly lose all credibility with your players.

The mistake was they stupidly waited to offer him a deal. It should have happened the second the 2018 season ended before LA and Philly extended Goff and Wentz. Remove their deals of 110 in guaranteed money on 4 year extensions and this would not have happened.
Dude. History is your friend. They did exactly what you proposed. Dak turned it down.

Dak does not want to wait to renegotiate his next deal.

He has not even performed up to the needed standard. Who knows if Dak will still be wanted in 2015?

This guy comes from an overinflated vision of himself. NFL history is full of Daks.

If I was Dallas, I would say..

"Take it or leave it."

.
2015? Are we having drug related flashbacks and confusing Dak with someone else?

In any case, apparently Dallas doesn't view Dak level QBs as a dime a dozen, plus, how do we know it is Dak causing the holdup? If the Cowboys are asking for more than is typical in terms of the length of the contract, isn't that on them?

Seems like a pretty simple and reasonable solution to me.

Sure is a lot better than dragging this on for months and months on end.

Fans want to throw all of this on Dak and the 'evil agent' when the fact is that Jerry and son have botched these negotiations for a year now. Right from the very beginning. And the price tag has done nothing but go up and up and up. But fans will simply chalk it up to 'greedy player' rather than accepting the fact that their two lead negotiators botched things. They lowballed and tried to get the initial deal done and then kept thinking the other side would simply cave in to whatever cheap deal they offered. And they guessed wrong, again and again and again.

And now they're going to end up paying Dak $35 million a year or more, by their own doing. But it will be chalked up to 'greedy player' rather than 'incompetent negotiators' as it actually is.

If they give Prescott a three year deal (2020-2022), Todd will be knocking at the door of the Jones boys after the 2021 season before the final year of the deal. The cost of the position will be reset by Mahomes and likely Russell Wilson by then, so Dallas will have to top those numbers and likely add three years as an extension. So by the end of the 2024 season, the same dance will begin again.
Yep, might as well just tag if its 3 years!
