They need to get the deal done as least $$ possible before the draft so they can trade him

Did you read this before hitting ENTER?? If Dallas could get it done on the cheap, it would've occurred already. And since the contract would include a sizeable guarantee, if Dak was traded, the guarantee becomes dead money for this year.

This is why sometimes I just stop typing, sit back and watch the carousel of stupid spin.

if they are no season and you don't have to pay dak, why not pick up some defensive players for the next year? is the league going to stop all transactions?
it's just a what-if question.
You are still saying there is no reason to spend money on Dak if there is no season, but in the next breath saying there is a reason to spend money on defense despite no season. Either there is a reason to spend money on players or there isn't.

Let me know when "being the good guy" pays the bills, or when Jerry Jones donates his entire half of the salary cap money to charity.
Possible the dumbest argument ever made in a public forum when discussing the salary of a professional athlete.

If his "bills" are in jeopardy of not being paid, even at his "paltry" salary, he has serious and I mean SERIOUS spending issues that he needs major counseling on to assist him.

Please never use paying his bills, or feeding his family, as reasons EVER again. Just say, because he wants and deserves to be filthy rich and live a lifestyle only a few have ever been afforded to live. At least it is honest.

Dak definitley has one heck of a lot of nerve thinking he deserves anything close to top 5 money. Dallas should of been doing what the Bears did. They brought in Foles to compete against Trubisky.

Except Trubisky is still under contract, and Dak is not. If Dallas traded for a QB, Dak’s agent asks for $50 million per year, knowing full well it won’t happen. Dallas would release him, as they can’t trade him unsigned, and if Dak wanted to poison a sign and trade, all he need do is announce he won’t sign an extension and will go back into the 2021 FA market.

Try to get it straight. I'll spell it out for you. The comment is in direct reference to the comment about "being the good guy", as if that set of words carried any weight and goes towards "paying his bills".

Before you accuse anyone else of the "dumbest possible argument", check yourself first.

Please never use paying his bills, or feeding his family, as reasons EVER again. Just say, because he wants and deserves to be filthy rich and live a lifestyle only a few have ever been afforded to live. At least it is honest.

Please read posts more carefully before making yourself look this dumb again.

The logic seems to escape him.

Repeatedly.

Other than any chance to be competitive in 2020? Sure.

What for? So they can field a team with a quarterback that can't play?
Lmaooo the posters today are killin me. What we would lose if we didn’t have Dak signed for this season would be, oh I don’t know, a starting quarterback?

And please take note of the season that won't happen. The one we should stock up on defensive players for with the money we save by not having a quarterback.

Fans want to throw all of this on Dak and the 'evil agent' when the fact is that Jerry and son have botched these negotiations for a year now. Right from the very beginning. And the price tag has done nothing but go up and up and up. But fans will simply chalk it up to 'greedy player' rather than accepting the fact that their two lead negotiators botched things. They lowballed and tried to get the initial deal done and then kept thinking the other side would simply cave in to whatever cheap deal they offered. And they guessed wrong, again and again and again.

And now they're going to end up paying Dak $35 million a year or more, by their own doing. But it will be chalked up to 'greedy player' rather than 'incompetent negotiators' as it actually is.

Draft a QB in the 4th round this year to replace Dak next year. Crazy? maybe, but it might happen. ;)

Agreed, I think the finacials could be worked out between 4-6 years. Those are typical contract lengths. It's been reported the the biggest issue is lenght, so maybe you theory of some below 4 years is the show stopper.

Don't you just love the off-season...lol
They asked for 7 years on their first offer.

I’d be fine with all of that.

Just getting Tua in the building and getting us out of Dak’s deal is a big enough win. Anything else is a bonus.
