Is every post you make a stream of consciousness or incoherent rambling?

May be the same thing.

Who knows any more.

Crazy world we live in.

Im convinced he just gets drunk every night. Used to be a really good poster. Shame really.

I think the OP has the definition wrong anyway. From what I recall of the movie (and book), the Crazy Ivan was merely a hard, unexpected turn to the left or right designed to clear the trailing submarine out of the water stirred up by its propellers so it could be detected on sonar, but did not mean one submarine turned and headed for the other. I think he is getting that maneuver mixed up with the scene where a sub turned toward an approaching torpedo to cause impact before it had a chance to arm itself.
I was a submarine officer in the 60's and 70's. The tailing ops were called blind man's bluff. Crazy ivan was in fact a russian tactic designed to make our boats slow themselves. The uss tautog collided with a rusky boat. Tautog was damaged but the risky boat sank. I have listened to the tape of its implosion. They would also fire a torpedo on occasion. But we could outrun their torpedoes or eject a noise maker to draw the fish off intended target.

Anyone that has read the book or seen the movie "The Hunt for Red October" knows about crazy Ivan.

I don't agree that tactic is comparable with the way the Cowboys do their drafting. LVE was an anticipated pick. Some people convinced themselves that Ridley was going to be the pick but that was their own fault, not something the Cowboys did to trick folks. If the scouts do their due diligence they will find talent that most of us have really never heard of. It's not crazy for this to happen.

I think Ruggs is another Ridley.

I'd take Lamb or Jeudy in a heartbeat though.
Same here on those two... they have top-tier WR1 ability. It would be nigh-impossible to pass up Lamb or Jeudy unless a player like D. Brown was there (real big fan of his, as well).
Cooper-Gallup-Lamb/Jeudy would be nasty.

Jerry's draft
1st round, kicker
2nd round and, DE
3rd round, kicker
4th round, DE
5th round, RB

That is how dangerous Jerry is.

What's a 'Crazy Ivan?" Its where you are stalking something and tracking them..
and suddenly your prey turns around and heads for you..

It originated during the Cold War of the 60's and 70's. Our subs and the Russian subs spied on each other, hence the word Ivan for Russian.

The subs would try to shake each other off their trail. It's always unexpected and seems crazy. But it often works. You will get away.

So..

You know what I am asking.

It seems like year after year we always get some weird pick by the front office that turns into a Crazy Ivan.

No explanation for it. No reasoning.

Remember Calvin Ridley in 2018?

We were dying from a top WR and pick by pick we watched him drop to us..

only to pass him by and pick Wolf Hunter.

Most of us said the FO had lost their minds and while Wolf Hunter was good in 2018..2019 was a complete wash.

And it caused us to trade for Cooper and he has shot up our cap AND had problems as well disappearing in games.

Our draft with Gregory was another Crazy Ivan. Gregory had failed his Combine drug test with Pot. We took him anyway. Bad mistake.

So I ask you. We are all hoping and discussing our draft choices but..

there is a big fat white elephant in the room in the corner.

Are we going to see a bizarre pick out of Dallas in our first 3 picks we do not know anything about?

If so, what do you think about it?

Good or Bad..SMART OR FOOLISH.

Over to you guys.

We're drafting a Russian sub captian?

I just did a PFF draft simulation and was able to have Derrick Brown fall to us at 17. I ran 5 and 3 out of the 5 simulations had him as our pick at 17. At 51 we got Davidson, his team mate.. Big powerful edge guy PLUS a beast DT. I encourage you guys to go over to PFF and run a simulation. Its pretty stunning that we have pretty fair odds of getting brown.

Glad I watched Red October or I'd be lost.

WR is the pick

I don't see it. Ridley is not a bad receiver. I don't know if he's a #1 but he's a solid #2. Ruggs skillset.....I don't see him being Ridley. He's other going to flop out or some OC is going to get creative with him.
Ridley was not a first round talent. Gallup is better, and he was a third-round pick. That's the point.

Ridley was a 1st round talent. He graded out as the best prospect in the draft. The only reason he's not getting as much luck is because he has Julio Jones in front of him. Gallup was not a better prospect than Ridley.

We are going to trade up to the 7th spot (007) and pick Sean Connery?

Ridley is a decent receiver. Nothing more. Nothing that special.

Gallup is a better pro than Ridley. Half of first round players bust as first round talent.
