Trueisms galore.

What you are saying is..

"We were Romo Friendly"

And now we are "Dak Friendly" now but need to remember about being "Defense Friendly".

True enough except tough to do as Zeke, Amari and soon Dak are going to own 40% of our cap soon.

We either win as constructed and McCarthy does it thru his coaching..

or we will eventually roll over and sink becuz we are top heavy with offensive cap.

Did I understand you?
He's saying that it's foolish to go all O, and that if we don't build a D, nothing else will matter. And that "Romo friendly" is a very stupid term.

Jerry's idea of D is flawed. Badly. He believes that all you need is 3 or 4 super stars and that the rest can all be JAGs. That's why when he gets a player like Ware, he thinks it's good enough and doesn't see the need to put players around him. Right after Jimmy left, Jerry started letting go all that marvelous depth to sign players such as Deion, trade for Galloway, etc. Those are the moves the spelled the end of our contention.

Either we can't draft for defensive talent, or we can't develop them. We keep drafting defensive players with injury problems or with question marks, hoping they are fixable. Its easy to hit on non-premium positions in the 1st round which we have, RB and Interior O-Line. Only Tyron Smith was a good premium position selected, and it was a top 10 pick, so it gets easier there. We suck at drafting premium positions in the defensive side.
Yup.

By his own admission, Jerry does not watch tape of college players entering the draft. Since D appears to be an afterthought to him(After acquiring a super star CB and pass rusher), he doesn't appear to understand what makes players good, that is generally their physical skillset combined w/ instincts. He likes to draft guys w/ high INT/Sack numbers. Because that keeps him from having to do in depth analysis.

Jason Garrett was one of the worst things that ever happened to this franchise.

Dak was great for this franchise because he provide a solid level of play for cheap.

We never went all in on a roster like we should have while he was on that deal but last years team on paper was fantastic.

Now Dak wants top 3 QB money and he just isn’t worth that and now it’s time for Dallas to look elsewhere for their QB.

I have no order in my inbox to do what YOU SAY is needed.

You are hysterical.

I have a big picture of you saying this to your wife or GF demanding she find something on Google to support her statements.

She will tell you to piss up a rope and sleep on the coach.

I am telling you the same thing.

Bye. Last comment on this subject my friend. Ignor button coming if you do not calm down.

I reply to you as a courtesy. Try to be a good poster and understand that.
All I am doing is pointing out that you are making unverified claims. No need to get personal

I'm implying turnovers lose games. The stat that means more than any other is winning the turnover battle. You can argue that if you want. But I wasn't just talking about Dak when I said what I said. So while your taking up for Dak why don't you take up for every QB through out the whole entire history of the NFL. So your getting a BSOD from yourself.

Here's a simple yes or no question for you.

Do you really think the QB turning the ball over helps his team win games?

We were again at the bottom of the league in takeaways (dead last in int's) and you are calling out one of the best QBs in the league (in the history of the nfl actually) at taking care of the ball. Think about that for a moment.

Of course INTs hurt the team. But Dak had 30tds and 11 INTs last year. Noone with any knowledge of football is going to correlate Dak's INTs with our 8 losses.

Ok..

Understood you believe that which is definitely everybody's right.

But info today is many times verified only 2 weeks later corrected on page 19 of the newspaper.

Nobody reads it or has moved on with current affairs.

So the first impression stays even though it was proven other wise.

I really enjoy the 'fact checker' generations who think they invented it on their cellphones.

My generation invented it with Watergate and Nixon's impeachment and the lies of the Vietnam War.

So proceed.

We still friends, no prob.

13-3 Dak very few turnovers.
8-8 Dak more turnovers than usual.

Turnovers can kill a drive and lose a game. As turnovers go up winning percentages go down. That's why Parcells called Romo a coach killer, turnovers.

Jameis Winston threw for the most yards last year and probably had the most turnovers too. Good QB play is not about compiling stats, it's about taking care of the ball.
Dak has taken care of the ball even last season. He took care of the ball and they still got 8 losses.

Now do not freak out about asking this.

It's not another Dak thread.

It's about the position as it has been regarded over the years and chasing success with our team.

I will start with Romo.

Parcells had Sean Payton from the Giants come to Dallas when Parcells arrived. Rumor was that Payton was the next HC. Payton recruited Romo and he became a FA 4th string QB.

Instead the New Orleans job came and off Payton went along with Ireland.

Coach #1,Parcells, toughed it out and eventually Parcells had to sit Drew Bledsoe and start Romo. That marriage lasted a short while and one day, Parcells worried about Romo and his style of play being unpredictable and turnover prone.

Parcells called Romo "A Coach Killer".

The die was cast.

The first coach over Romo left, Parcells. You could say Payton was a second but I will not go that far. Payton wanted Brees.

Next, Phillips, Coach #2.. He had some success with Romo followed by a decline of the team.

Phillips was fired.

Romo survived but it became very apparent Romo the QB was the lead talent the team felt it must have.

Coach #3..Garrett took over. Three straight years of 8-8 followed along with rollercoaster years all over the map.

Dak replaced Romo.

Dak rose quickly initially then leveled off missing the playoffs twice in his first 4 season and only advancing past the first Rd. twice and no further.

Now Garrett is gone.

Up steps McCarthy..Coach #4.. It's way to early to say with Big Mike what is ahead.

But it's not too early to ask..

Are the QBs we ask to lead this team coach killers and just unable to win it all in the NFL?

Our QBs have gone thru Parcells, Phillips and Garrett as HCs. They are now on their 4th coach trying to win.

Is there any correlation with the fact that Romo was a FA and Dak is essentially a 4th Rd selection got any impact with the coaches failing?

Or is it just that we can not hire good HCs?

For us to break this downward spiral, do we just need to draft or trade for a top QB and move away from the bargain shopping at QB we always seem to do in the last 25 years.?

I know these questions will be to some slamming Romo and Dak.

But that is not my intent.

Is it really the coaching that is inferior or is it the QBs being assigned to the task.?

Ok..over to you.

We have plenty of time to discuss this.

BTW..T-shirts saying.." Coach Killer Walking" will be available at checkout. Just a little humor there.

Have a great weekend.
you can spin it any way you like coaches kill their own teams sometimes..

let me kill this theory real fast, Romo was NOT mistake prone he has a great INt-TD ratio , some bad games like all qbs? yes but Farve won a sb and went to another and has like 40% more INts then romo for their carers, Peyton manning and I believe Troy ( a lot less TDs)has MORE INTs for their career.. SMH Reality is Romo was good enough to win a SB and players around him, coaching, and sometimes himself killed that dream but he was not coach killer he was a very good franchise QB that could have easily won SBS.. Eli Manning was far more mistake prone and won 2 SBs before I believe his coach was let go..Coughlin didnt get fired because of his qb . his tenure ran its course..

Bad coaching is far more to do with their retiring or firing etc..

right now I see a qb like Winston ying and yang for sure turnover prone ROMO WAS NOT, that was a bad narrative as his career td-int ratio one of the best all time in DC history and very huigh in the NFL..

Parcells is quitter like Jimmy they bore easy and leave early from many jobs..dont pout that on Romo, Phillips had some bad luck and rumor has it garett sabotaged him and Garret being the very avg coach he was lasted 10 years with mostly romo..

Romo top level play was the only reason Garett lasted so long, if Romo were coach killer Garett wouldn't have lasted more than 5..narrative completely blown

Dak only been here 4 years Garett was on his way out but that shocking 13-3 season and 10-6 comeback only delayed the inevitable, garett was going anyway so how do we blame tag him a coach killer? TBD? his salary might be ateam killer that leads to a coaching change but the play himself no..

I think around the league once a QB who is not Elite and gets an elite deal is automatically putting the coach on notice and if it doesnt play out quickly, change is coming.. thats not a coach killer..thats the way of the nfl NOW theory Win in a hurry or you are gone..

Coaching and special teams put the playoffs out of reach last year. Dak does a good job of taking care of the ball.

But my statement was a general overall statement about QB's. That's why I named other guys in my post.

We really need to make rules where certain posters can only make a thread every three days or so

In Redball’s case a limit to one thread per day. He’s posted multiple threads in one day. He currently has three threads on the front page.

Absolutely.

In the beginning.

After a while he made the better at the time cheaper decision for Brees.

Brees was coming off his shoulder injury and happy to find a team.

It's all just funky stuff and not really part of the thread.

maybe so, BUT Wilson is elite he played within an offense with less talented WR, TE , and RB then Dak did

If you do pay a QB elite money he has to be able to play with less talent.. Dak can not..
