Can somebody help me understand the numbers on Zeke’s Contract?

Wasn’t sure how to take your post but anytime Zeke’s contract comes up it’s usually someone complaining about it. It’s been pretty much the theme this offseason with fans complaining about our top players contracts. It’s almost like some fans on the board would rather have a mediocre player who’s a bargain than a top high priced player. There’s fans who would rather have Pollard starting on his rookie salary. It seems like it’s all about money for some fans. They want this QB for a bargain and that RB for another bargain. There’s been complaints about Amari’s contract and that we could have replaced him with Gallop or another cheaper option. If it was up to some they wouldn’t pay anyone.
Just because he may be a top player doesn’t mean he’s worth what he wants. Sometimes you just have to cut bait but since Jerry wasted a 4th round pick on him we all knew he would cave.

Here’s a very good article that dispels the myth of how great Zeke is in short yardage situations and why his contract wasn’t worth it. I’ll be referencing this often when his defenders talk about how great he is on short yard downs.

You and I have had enough discussions about Zeke. I know where you stand and you know where I stand. Nothing is going to change our positions.

But it is a good article, ya think? I hadn’t read it until today but it only validated my opinion and gave me some new ammo :)

I can’t remember an offseason where I’ve seen so many threads and comments with fans complaining about the contracts of our players. Christian McCafferty was just made the highest paid RB on the league off one great season and fans here applaud it but Zeke gets criticized for his deal despite consistent production his first 4 seasons.

agree.

too much #ZekeHate

he will be gone soon enough.

then they will cry that’s he’s gone.

Let's just say, there aren't any credible articles out there claiming that paying RBs told contract is a good decisions. Especially one who is so limited as a receiver.

Funny, not one of his supporters have said a word about that article which is well supported with facts, especially about his alleged short yardage dominance.

It’s really a four year deal because the Cowboys can get out after 2022

4 YRs $50,088,964 —- $6,700,000 Dead Cap

That’s why it’s really not nearly as bad as everyone freaked out about. After 2022, the cowboys can cut him and only owe 6.7m dead cap and move on

4 years and 50m isn’t nearly as ridiculous as it sounded when people said $90,000,000 !?$&@
!
The 6.7m dead money is not money we will owe him, its money already paid to him that was prorated over the life of the contract. We will save 8.3m if we cut him after 2022 season. His rookie deal would have paid him 25m for the 1st 5 years. But for some reason we wanted to market setters at the one position you shouldnt be market setters at and gave him a extra 23m over his 1st five years. And did it 2 years before we had to.

It’s a very informative article with objective data. Perception is a powerful thing to overcome and some people’s perception of Zeke causes blinders. Zeke is a good running back but he’s not as great as many would have you believe regardless of how many false claims like “he always pushes the pile 4 yards” they throw out to try and make him appear to be better than he is.

how many Super Bowls has Dallas won without Emmitt and TonyD?

You win with the best.
When ice cream sales increase, so does the number of shark attacks. In other words, ice cream sales correlate to more shark attacks.

But does this mean that ice cream sales cause shark attacks? Of course not.

The “Ice cream causes shark attacks” argument is a classic example of a logical fallacy.

Are you arguing that having Zeke on the team is a correlation of the Cowboys not winning a Supervosl in the last four years or that its the cause?

In reference to TD and Emmitt, are you saying their presence on the team was the cause of us winning Supe Bowls or did it merely correlate to us winning?

Do all RB’s have to win a Super Bowl to be considered great?

If so, then I guess the list of chump running backs can start with these guys.

Barry Sanders
Ladainian Tomlinson
Adrian Peterson

I guess if you were trying to feed a shark some ice cream, you probably gonna be pulling back a stub.

you might want to read the comments section of the article where several posters question the statistical validity of the analysis.
