I'd be great with compensation as low as that 5th round pick that Fisher is mentioning. Not sure that the Cardinals would.

I'd give up a 4th this year. And maybe even throw in a later 2021 pick to seal the deal.

They likely take anything close to that. If not, they are paying Kirk to sit and be inactive

@Knotamus I'd rather keep my 3rd and 4th round picks than trade for Kirk. WR class is deep. Also, I'd rather have a KJ Hill in the 3rd or 4th (or a player like that) for the next 4 years vs Kirk on a two year deal.
This is pretty much how I feel as well. With Gallop's contract expiring in a couple of years, I would hate to be negotiating the second contract with two WRs at the same time. I would much prefer a drafting a player

These are my thoughts as well.

Fourth round however, has been our money round as of late. 7 of the 8 picks are still active in the league. Two just won a Super bowl

Pollard
Armstrong, Schultz
Switzer
Tapper, Prescott
Wilson
Hitchens

But here's a question.......is a 4th round rookie receiver an upgrade from a few guys we already have? I'm not sure......besides, what are the chances of Dak trusting him. With Kirk, you're getting a plug & play vet ready to hit the ground running, no learning curve.

I’m with you all the way. I only suggested a 4th as example, because Kirk’s talent and experience may warrant that. Obviously, I’d feel better with a 5th or 6th.

I don’t think thats too far of stretch.. I mean we landed Austin, a former 1st Rd talent, for a 6th. And as mention by @CalPolyTechnique, the WR market is weirdly subjective. Just look at the trades of “big names” Wr over the last few years.

Look, the trade would have to make sense for both teams. Arizona has Fitz, Hopkins, and Last years rookie, Isabella. They way Arz sees it, they can trade Kirk and use the pick for a WR this year, like I suppose we could. They have the luxury at the moment of having three, maybe four, capable WRs and have the time to wait for another rookie to develop... Dallas doesn’t. Not to mention, Kirk will want to get paid in a couple of years. Sure Dallas could easily draft one themselves, but if your hoping he’ll start right away.. well, we better be picking one near the top of our draft. That said, I’d rather go Defense, Defense, Defense with our top three draft picks. Too many holes on that side of the ball to use a 1-3 pick on a Wr imo.

I should mention, I’d rather draft one this year myself, but if we can land a proven starter that also can return punts for a deal.. Well then, why not. That covers two needs without the “hope” a rookie Wr will do the same.

Again, I’m not suggesting we make this trade by all cost, but if it’s reasonable.. I make the move all day.

Of course this thread is all speculation anyway

(Side note: A trade for a player wont mess with any comp picks for next year either, which also could be a motivating factor for Dallas)

Without validating the rumor, I think this would only work if they're willing to take our 4th rounder on day three of the draft. The Cowboys would want to see what receivers are available to them when they pick in the first three rounds and fall back on this trade if they don't pick a receiver.

The asking price in terms of what Ariz. is wanting shouldn't be very demanding, imho. A WR in the 3rd round would likely equal a 2nd rounder in the year he was acquired. This draft year isn't one to be trading a WR and expecting close to what the trading team first surrendered to get him. I would imagine Dallas might be thinking of adding a WR in the 3rd round and do just as well, even though Kirk is very good. He's had trouble with pesky ankle issues.

This seems more like a possibility after the draft if the board never falls right to take a receiver. Doesn't make much sense before the draft unless it is at a cheap price.

I mean if you can run a 4.4 you should be fast enough. Not too many guys run a 4.3 or 4.2. Even then I think Kirk plays incredibly fast.
Kirk broke his foot and missed the last 4 games of his 2018 rookie season with the Cardinals. Last year he suffered a high ankle sprain that he admitted hindered his play the rest of the year. I'm very cautious about WRs with foot/ankle injuries. With as many WRs in this class, maybe it's safer to draft a WR who is fully healthy, has had no foot injuries and is talented enough to contribute right away. This team has a bad habit of getting players with pre-existing injuries that end up creeping back once with the Cowboys. Let's start getting fully healthy players instead.

The injury history is what would keep me from giving up more than a late round pick for him.

Draft Denzel Mims (6'3", 210, 4.38 40, big, strong, proved at the Senior Bowl and at the Combine that he can run all routes and get separation very well when he chooses to, can play all 3 WR positions (X, Y and Z (as a big slot WR)), would be a much bigger/easier target for Dak who tends to throw high at times, etc. Imagine a shorter/slower DB trying to cover him?

But, nah, let's go with a shorter/slower WR because that is the prototype common standard.
You can’t just pick who you draft before it even starts lmao. Mims won’t be anywhere close to lasting till pick 51, he’s mocked in the bottom of the 1st to the early second. I like big slots as well but you can’t just count on us drafting a guy and him contributing, you have no idea how the draft or the player will shake out.

Where did you get this idea that Kirk is slow lol? He ran a 4.47 at the combine and now he’s average speed lol? Hmm I don’t know maybe watch the actual footage of him playing and you’ll see he’s one of the fastest players on the field at all times lol. His biggest calling card to date has been his deep threat ability; he can also run routes and is a lot more sure handed than Mims (can’t take another drop-prone WR). 700 yards in 13 games lmao good luck finding a 3rd round receiver with similar production, doesn’t matter how deep the class is it’s still a crapshoot past the top 15.
