JETS GET
2020 1ST ROUND PICK (17TH OVERALL)
2020 3RD ROUND PICK (82ND OVERALL)
LT TYRON SMITH

COWBOYS GET
S JAMAL ADAMS
The team that is most desperate to land superstar safety Jamal Adams is the Dallas Cowboys. Big D believes they’re in the midst of a championship window and Jerry Jones is willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen.

The team flirted with a potential Jamal Adams trade near the NFL Trade Deadline, but they weren’t willing to pay the piper. Recently there have been some reports that suggest the Cowboys will be making another aggressive push to try and land Adams.

If they’re serious this time around, then let’s get serious.

At a bare minimum, the 17th overall pick has to be included in any deal and in addition to that the team will either require a few more Day 2 picks (round two or three). Instead of slogging through more potential trades involving unknown draft picks, the Jets can land a premier left tackle in Tyron Smith

Jets are not getting a 1st rounder period.
They may get a player of decent value bit not a 1st.
The offer I woukd make is simple.
Xavier Woods 2021 2nd
Swap our 3rd for there 4th.
Woods isnt in the same level as far as talent but both are close to new deals. Just one is cheaper amd can handle the postion addicutly.

If you trade Tyron Smith you need atleast a late 1st to early 2nd rounder.

Any trade that involves our 17th pick has to have a deal already in play longer then two years.

I wouldn't do this at all. look at what the trade for Hopkins included......that many picks and an all pro left tackle (although older)… is this defense Jamal adams away from being dominant? and he is going to want to renegotiate...no thanks....I wouldn't trade a first round pick and a 3rd pick that is supposed to net you two starters. we have way too many holes to lose draft picks and create a hole at LT, and not have draft picks to fill the LT spot....this is stupid.

The same people that whine about paying out huge contracts by saying they can draft a RB or DE or QB every 4 years to save money. But yet they would do this for Adams who will be seeking one of those huge contracts next season.

Adams is not worth any thing more than a 4th rounder. I posted a link to his stats in another thread, he has 2 INT's in 3 years. And these same people said do not keep Jones because he does not get picks.

Exactly.

Anything involving giving up a 1st round for Adams is stupid.
I would trade #17 for him straight up, no question

He would be, along with tank, our best defensive player. He’s hands down better than any DB in the draft, including Okudah and makes McKinney look like practice squad material if you want to talk actual safeties.

The only first round player who could play safety tthe ti woudl take in this draft over Adams would be Isaiah Simmons, sho is technically a LB but could play the same style of safety as Adams

Safety is a position of need for us. DE, CB, S, we need at least one of each in the top three rounds, imo.

If you can get one of the top safeties in the league for #17, you do it without a second through.

I’d consider a fourth rounder on top of it. He’s that good and our need is that great

I draw the line at adding our starting left tackle. That’s just dumb

I wouldn't hate it, Smith is at the end.

The problem I see with it is that we give up Tyron and don't have a replacement for him. We would need our first-round pick in order to get one. ... So let's say we're on the clock and one of those top four OL are available while it looks like all the other top players that most mention are going to be gone. I'd go for a trade of Smith for Adams, with a later-round pick thrown in because of the age difference and use No. 17 on the lineman.

There's no way I give up still one of the best OTs in the game (as long as he can stay healthy), the 17th and a third-rounder for Adams. Ultimately, he's still just a safety even if he's a pretty great one.

Can the Jets get better then the 17th pick for Adams? I don’t think so. When the Cowboys are on the clock I would call the Jets and see what they say.

Not me. If a top CB or edge rusher is there at #17 (or possibly wr), I take one of them.

Define “top”?

Chase Young is the only elite Edge in the draft
Neither Okuda or Williams are likely to be elite, but both could be considered “top” and it’s not out of the question they end up being all pro at some point

Other than one of those three players, along with Isaiah Simmons, there isn’t a defender that could help us more over the next four years than Jamaal Adams

The next batch of edge rushers, including Chaisson, are good but not all-pro potential and the next batch of CB’s may be good but not all-pro either

Adams is first team all-pro and was second team all-pro the year prior. That’s what being elite means. Any good player can be pro bowl level. You get one of the top two players in the conference at their position and you have something specisl

Just for comparison, the Cowboys have two current players who have ever been first team all-pro.

Zack - four
Tyron - two

Just saying, Adams is not just some guy. He’s elite.

We aren't trading Tyron. He signed an incredibly team friendly deal. You never see eight year contracts in the NFL. Most guys want a big four year then another shot at the open market.

You can't trade guys like that. You'll never get another team friendly deal.
They could trade Tyron, but they are most definitely not trading R1 plus Tyron.
Much less that and then some.

If they trade Tyron they are using R1 on his replacement.

He is insanely good still when healthy but his health is a constant battle.
His contract is soo good that he is an asset in trade.

He's pocketed over 70m in actual cash already though so no feeling sorry for him.
He's been great and made great money.

Jets will absolutely get a 1st plus picks or players for Adams. He’s a top 5 safety in the league and he’s young.

Maybe. I don’t think a safety is worth that, with paying him on top of that. The price will fall. Not rise. The value of that rookie contract is falling every day as time inches closer to the end of that deal.

Dallas gets taken to the woodshed. 1st round pick, nothing more. No way is Smith included. Ya, who plays left tackle then? Dak gets killed.
Our 1st, 3rd and Smith? NO WAY! I'd be sick. I'm not even that happy with just the 17th.

I read the site. It's funny they think we're right up against the salary cap.

We're something like $20 million under.
the cowboys have enough cap space to give adams a new contract and make him the highest paid safety in the league and still have plenty of room. I wish the cowboys could get him. adams best years are going to be wasted with the jets.

Awuzie had a down year at CB and BJones left.
